In glaze lustres!!! Fired in a barrel kiln built by @leilakhazma_ and I 😎 I’ve been playing w this style of glaze since reading @gregdalyceramics generous research in his book on lustres in my MFA years @nas_au and it’s been a real delight getting them to work in my backyard kiln!! We kept this kiln design whole for fewer leaks and more control over reduction which means loading it is not only a full body workout but also somewhat traumatic! Internally there’s only a couple cm of clearance each side and I literally lose 5 years of my life every time that lid goes on but!! gain 6 back when I open it so basically cheating death 🤩 I spoke a lot about constructing value in my MFA, and the power objects and materialism have in building connections, culture and belonging. The aesthetics of desire underpin all my work; what it means to be attracted to and find solace in surface, shapes and symbols is something that is always playing on my mind. These are concepts that slip in and out of the light for me, and I like to think this fluidity of thought is reflected in my work. I’m always chasing movement in something that is fixed, and lustre feels like the closest I can get to a surface that breathes. Huge thank you to anyone who has loaded or chilled w me during the firing!! Have moved house so putting this little guy on hold and hitting up bigger kilns for bigger works, stay tuned!! 🔥 #lustreglaze #inglazelustre #australianceramics

Hi!! Just checking in with some historical ⭐️facts⭐️ for you all!! This heavily censored and deeply unfulfilling platform is not one to talk about things that need care and consideration as amongst other problems, it carries the inevitability of tarring earnestness with narcissism 🤪 but! it is only right to acknowledge provenance as I wouldn’t be making the silly little things I do if it weren’t for the people and places who laid the foundations before me. I find love in labour and for me that is a privilege because it is a choice. Thank you to Bec for capturing me in my true form/goblin work mode! Respect to those who can make when the world is crumbling and respect to those who can’t. Big love to everyone during these extremely not okay times ❤️

We’re super excited to announce that our show 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑯𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒔 opens next week on the 20th of May at Saint Cloche We’ve both been squirrelled away in our respective states and studios making a whole lot of new work for this show, and it feels really special that a friendship which began as studio neighbours at Woodburn has grown into this exhibition 😤 Years of shared conversations about concepts, materials, process, challenges and everything in between have slowly found their way into the works in unexpected ways. It’s been so exciting watching our practices speak to one another across distance, and we can’t wait to share everything with you‼️ Artwork 1: “The something that was on the tip of my tongue is now on the tip of yours” @mud_grub Artwork 2: ‘Almost touching I’ @leannexiu

Last year @jasmine_craciun and I spent like three days battling the sonic assaults of airplanes, children and cars while we filmed and recorded our thoughts on our duo show “Even the Dust is Sentimental” at @tiles.lewisham 💕 Life has been busy for us in the best of ways lately, and when things calm down we are determined to sift through our trove of ramblings to piece together a thoughtful mini doco on all the meaning and moments behind the making of this very special show.. but for now please enjoy this little snippet! Huge thank you to Tiles for having us, it was an absolute privilege to be able to work in a space that echoed our themes of home, memory and material. We were given the freedom to do whatever we wanted with the space and we had a lot of fun taking that as far as we possibly could before it got too weird. Thank you to our writer and dear friend @leilakhazma_ for her beautiful words about our show, and for including some of her own printed by @s_t_r_a_y_p_a_g_e_s as featured in the above! And to @tomstephensau , @natvskaw and @alfauxto who were on the other side of the lens of the footage and photography you see. Also @sebastianroca_music for walking down a hallway, you did great!! Love you all heaps we’ll get back to you soon!!

2/3(?) months of studio gremlin mode has melted my brain but not my works and that’s what’s most important :)) pls enjoy maximalist dump of WIP and me trying to develop a consistent visual language through multiple mediums, forms, techniques. Can’t wait 2 share the finished works w you all and write more about it when I’ve slept for 2 solid weeks. You’ll be able to catch the fruits of my labour at @saint_cloche opening 20th of May with @leannexiu in our duo show “What the Hand Remembers” I’ve been working out of four(!) studios and feeling extremely grateful for those around me who have offered me mentorship, space, assistance, resources and/or kind words/food. Thank u thank u thank u @ruthallenglass @schoolhouse_studios @lygon_street_pottery @studiodokolaglass @lena.bcrra @metal__bender @_studiolehmann @danelborne @by.c.r.ward And to @nick.doran.adams.glass my glass teacher at @rage_glass and @ronj_a my ride or die assistant ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Not a work recap but a big thank u to all the people I’ve met through work or life or screaming into a mic or however! Whether it be old, new, fleeting or sporadic friends and connections, it’s people and communities that drive me the most! Bouncing around every three months or so has been amazing but also hard to maintain relationships when you’re a less-than-ideal communicator like meee so feeling v grateful to those who always have open arms whenever I pop up on their radar 💘 Some, definitely not all! lil moments from the last cycle around the sun 🌞

Hi everyone!! I’m hot and sweaty and putting on my hat to deliver an important update for you all!! As my main practice moves toward larger, research-driven and more conceptual work, I’ve been craving a separate space for the small pieces that feed it. From now on @_grubworld_ will be the official grub hub for all of my more intimate sized vessels and experiments that are essential to my process but don’t quite fit where my exhibition(?) practice is heading. I’m very excited for them to have their own little world and I hope you are too! 🌍 🚀 For the rest of this year, this new account will be a mood board and a place for soft teasers while I shape what Grub World really means. In 2026 I’ll start releasing small-batch wares through stockists and direct drops under that name. It will also be more of a personal account than this one, with photos from my life, people, animals, flowers, eyes: the world that holds the works. Mud Grub will still be my main account for research, process, archival works and upcoming exhibitions 💘 At the moment Grub World is still evolving into being, but if you’re in naarm you can see a primordial sneak peek this Friday at Project 02 x @crooked_drinks curated by @ivyrconsulting Thanks so much for all your support!! I would normally be way too shy to expand like this but thanks to everyone’s love I am now way too confident!! You did this to yourselves!! Much love, Billie

I did a call out a while back asking for photos of nothing in particular, the kind you hoard on your phone for no real reason other than not being able to let them go. They were shown @tiles.lewisham for “even the dust is sentimental” w @jasmine_craciun and @leilakhazma_ , where we made works about attachments to things, moments, people, places. Big thanks to anyone who sent in their photos and even bigger thanks to @claywoll for giving me the space to make and pushing my firings through a few days before the show opened 🤪💘 It was nice to give form to digital items of value, and I did so by slabbing porcelain as thinly as possible onto the floor of my old @burntdirt studio <33 It was also nice to imprint place onto material, somewhere significant to me becomes the body of something significant to you. Photos that were donated were collaged and printed in special oxide heavy ink, sectioned and applied by hand onto less-than-ideal surfaces. The final adhesion is made permanent through one last firing: any air trapped between the photo and the clay burns the image away. Most of these decals were auctioned off to raise funds for APAN and Deadly Science. It is a privilege to be able to make things about the accumulation of more things when there are so many people dealing with the forced loss of things, moments, people and places. Really enjoyed this process and this show, thanks everyone for all your support!
