Mitamine Lab #69 - Water & Wax
A flood at home nearly ruined some of our records. While saving the collection, we revisited vinyls we hadn't played in years. It was a wonderfully odd mix which includes Ray Conniff, Rachmaninoff, Ferrante & Teicher, and the irresistible Pablo Beltrán Ruíz y Su Orquesta. Surprisingly, disaster makes for a good DJ.
Along with these rescued gems, we're also sharing some new promo love. Check out the latest releases from Phil Struck, Mel Keane, hydra:bad, and more.

“Revolú Gallery presenta “El Peso del Aire” de Sofía Castellanos

Esta es la exposición individual de Sofía Castellanos que marca un giro en su práctica: del mural al objeto. Reconocida por sus intervenciones a gran escala, la artista traslada su lenguaje al espacio físico mediante formas que se desprenden del muro y se materializan frente al espectador, destacando un corazón monumental negro, denso y reflectante, que reinterpreta el imaginario del Sagrado Corazón desde la presencia y no la representación.
A su alrededor, mariposas y figuras recurrentes se convierten en estructuras suspendidas de acrílico que reaccionan a la luz y al movimiento, activando la experiencia en tiempo real. La muestra propone un nuevo enfoque del muralismo, expandido hacia el objeto y el espacio, donde la escala, la visibilidad y la transformación se construyen desde una práctica abierta y en constante desplazamiento.”

@sofiacastellanosart da un giro en su práctica, del muro al objeto. Las formas se desprenden de la arquitectura y se vuelven presencia.
La exposición incluye un corazón negro monumental, denso y reflectante, que toma el Sagrado Corazón y lo convierte en objeto.
A su alrededor, estructuras suspendidas activan el espacio y cambian con la luz y el movimiento. No representan la transformación, la ejecutan.
El Peso del Aire expande el muralismo hacia el objeto y la circulación, desplazándolo del muro hacia el espacio.
Castellanos no hereda esa tradición, la reconstruye.
