Die Erde wird aus ihrem Orbit geworfen und gerät auf Kollisionskurs mit der Sonne. Die rotierende Schallplatte, dessen Nadel unweigerlich in das Zentrum stürzt, ist der musikalische Anknüpfungspunkt und gleichzeitig Sinnbild für eine sich aufheizende, im Chaos versinkende Welt.
Inspiriert von Charles Ferdinand Ramuz folgt der Abend dem Narrativ seines gleichnamigen Romans. «Sturz in die Sonne» zieht Parallelen zwischen einer dem Untergang geweihten Zivilisation und uns im Hier und Jetzt.

🗓️From October 23–26 at 8:00 p.m., we will start the 25/26 season with the immersive sound performance Sturz in die Sonne!
The Earth is thrown from its orbit and set on a collision course with the sun.
To mark the beginning of the 25/26 season, Gare du Nord presents «Sturz in die Sonne» – an immersive sound performance for turntable orchestra, performers, and voice.
The rotating vinyl record, with its needle inevitably spiraling toward the center, serves both as a musical starting point and a symbol of a heating, collapsing world. Inspired by Charles Ferdinand Ramuz, the piece follows the narrative of his novel «Sturz in die Sonne», and draws clear parallels between a civilization on the brink of destruction and our world today.
The play is a collaborative project by Janiv Oron, Thomas Giger and Michael Anklin, Marie Delprat, Luz González and dramaturge Greta Magnani. For their sound performance, the team collaborates Martina Berther, Noémi Büchi, Rea Dubach, Violeta Garcia, Flo Kaufmann, Ruhail Qaisar and Christian Zehnder. Text fragments are narrated by actress Cathrin Störmer.
