« PIPEWORX » by @mel__keane is now officially out on Deardogs PIPEWORX is the new release from Irish composer, visual artist and designer Mel Keane (formerly known as Frog of Earth, and notably a member of the band Princ€ss) For the last two or so years, Mel has been researching and making work in response to the pipe band tradition (bagpipe and snare drum military adjacent marching bands), which is found mostly in countries that have been colonized by the UK, such as Ireland. This new record came as the result of this research, exploring the instability and directness of the bagpipes, but leaving behind the triumphant and militant qualities of pipe band music. Instead, aiming for something more emotionally ambiguous, or even melancholic. Written, produced and mixed by Mel Keane Mastered by The Bastard Artwork and design by MK Out as a 12’’ LP (180g, 33RPM) with silver Pantone printing on covers + labels.
