We are pleased to announce we will now be joined by Miranda Rutter presenting her show Bird Tunes supported by Rob Harbron on 28th May as part of our Folk Series 🍃 Fiddle player and composer Miranda Rutter is joined by Rob Harbron on concertina to present Bird Tunes, an exquisite new suite of folk tunes with birdsong at their core. Miranda has crafted every tune in the project out of fragments of birdsong which she recorded on her phone during woodland walks near her home. The suite is both a love-song to the intricacy and beauty of birdsong, and a timely reminder of the struggles with habitat loss and human-made dangers faced by migrating birds today. Rob Harbron is widely regarded as one of the leading English concertina players of his generation, known for his distinctive harmonic style. He performs with Leveret alongside Sam Sweeney and Andy Cutting. This show is in replacement of Laura Jane Wilkie who has unfortunately sustained a injury to her hand. Thu 28 May | 7.45 pm | tickets on our website 🎟️ #TauntonBrewhouse #Taunton #Somerset #SouthWest #Folk

New workshop announcement! On Sunday 14th June, @mirandarutter7 will be coming down to The Greenbank to deliver a tune writing workshop for us! Miranda is an incredible fiddle and viola player who has recently written ‘Bird Tunes’ - one of our favourite albums - a suite of tunes inspired by bird song. 🦅 This workshop will explore finding inspiration in nature and from our surroundings when approaching melodic writing - perfect for seasoned tune writers, anyone wanting to improve their writing and anyone who’s never written a tune before but would like to give it a go. She will provide a valuable ‘way in’ for you - exploring structures and starting points as well as looking at how to draw inspiration from around you. Get your tickets nice and early if you want to come along - there are only 20 places and we expect this to be a popular one! 🐦 Tickets and more info in the bio😘

Some scenes here from our Swedish tour 🎶 We had a lovely opportunity to play in Katarina Kyra for an International Women’s Day gala concert, and that’s where this footage of the quartet is from. The acoustics are something else and there is a 6 second delay on sound reaching the back of the church! Film footage is also taken from our train trips East to West and back again, and from the beautiful dancing at Brogärde. Not pictured: The hour preceding the gala concert when we turned up at the wrong church! 🎥 Jessica Karlsson, Lucy Elkiss 🎶 “Fine Lady” by Emma Reid
