I said I’d do a post for new followers on who we are and what we stand for as a production company - so here it is! Mill Road is and always has been about producing films that stimulate conversation, that shine a light on nuance and alternative perspectives. We craft powerful films that actively drive change, through a deep commitment to our craft, our responsibility and humanity.

For International Men’s Day, @millroadfilms and @trybehouse present the short film ‘If Home Is Where The Heart Is’. Mental health among Black men is an urgent issue, with many struggling in silence due to stigma, lack of support, or societal barriers. @trybehouse provides a space where these young men can be vulnerable, find joy, and develop the confidence to tell their own stories. Mill Road is committed to the production of films that move the world forward. We have strong hopes that ‘If Home is Where the Heart Is’ will do just that and bring much deserved attention to the necessity of spaces like @trybehouse and the brilliant work that they do. First time at @bafta TV Awards thanks to their brilliant Head of Production @peachesschalien . The logistics of successfully executing a mammoth live event like that blow my mind - congrats to the whole team behind it and all of the incredible nominees and winners. As we left @suzannebarker.x turned to me and said “So… next year? Year after?” and (call me crazy) suddenly it didn’t feel so out of reach. In the words of Owen Cooper (and John Lennon!) “you won’t get anything unless you have the vision to imagine it” 🌟 (Many thanks for my hair colour @neriacolourexpert at @nicobouquetsalon and fab blow dry @headmasterscobham !)

We have been working on this for some time but the Louis Theroux documentary has brought this conversation to the fore, so it’s time to hear the missing piece. It’s time to have a conversation about the deep-rooted, historical hatred of women. It’s time to hear about how no one is immune to the conditioning. We have the receipts, the research, the experience, and we’re ready to get this made. We REALLY need your help. Like, comment, re-post, share and save. I’ve been in a bit of a downward spiral recently - business is tough at the moment and the creative industries in general are in turmoil. @suzyreading reminded me to come back to what I’m proud of, and this exercise has really helped boost my spirits and see the progress we’ve made. Onwards!
