With Humanity’s Impact, we set out to answer a question: what happens when you make the invisible, visible?
Released in 2021, the film visualizes the scale of plastic consumption by dropping the 20,000 plastic bottles produced every second at the time onto a suburban test site of plastic dummies.
Only 9% is recycled while the rest is dumped, burned, or pollutes our planet. Three years later, the numbers are slightly lower but still staggering: over 500 billion bottles were produced in 2024. That’s nearly 16,000 bottles every second.
As the global plastic treaty talks approach, the question we ask at the end of the film still stands: Do we really need that many?
