“The Looking Glass of Language” explores how the written word operates as both a means of communication and a pathway to understanding, where symbols are endlessly rearranged to create new meanings. The installation’s mirrored surface, together with the physical interaction between audience and artwork, frames language as more than something we simply learn but instead as a living, energetic process revealed through human encounter.

“The Looking Glass of Language” explores the structure of language and how individuals parse it to derive meaning. Through interaction and anagrams, familiar forms shift into new meanings, revealing how easily perception can change. Beyond the artwork, the project emphasizes the importance of community and collective experience, with language as a baseline for existence. 🔎
The work is an invitation to look beyond the surface and rethink what art means to the Singaporean landscape, and to you.

SANTAI, a new series for the tenth edition of #LightToNightSG, invites audiences to relax, gather, and share collective artistic experiences. 🌿
Rooted in the Malay word “santai” (to relax), the series invites you into immersive, participatory artworks that explore language, history, memory, and collaboration, slowly and collectively.
From bio-organic sculptures that respond to sound and movement, to multi-site installations tracing the histories of coastal communities, interactive gathering spaces, and participatory light activations, SANTAI unfolds as a series of shared encounters across five key gathering points in the Civic District. Along the way, you’re invited to sit, rearrange, wander, listen, gather, and illuminate the space together—becoming part of the artwork as it shifts through collective presence, quiet reflection, and moments of togetherness.

ST8TES OF BEING is an immersive exhibition of new works by Amanda Tan (@em.pyreal ) and Irsyad Ishak (@sssssssyad ) that meditates on the nature of existence and the complexities of the human condition.

Through transmedia installations and the moving image, the artists probe the tensions between time and eternity, individuality and plurality, freedom and predestination, and stillness and chaos, inviting visitors to reflect on and question their immediate self-perceptions as beings in the world.
What does it mean to be human? What does it mean to be self-aware? And how do individual selves relate to the wider communities and environments around them? ST8TES OF BEING showcases fresh artistic takes on these perennial questions, taking visitors through the proverbial looking glass into the left fields of human experience.
