❣️❣️ PULP 2.0❣️❣️ @jackrowe_ and I did it again, with a second edition of pulp, celebrated with a launch party in @synhackney and featured in @dazed and @huckmagazine 💌 Find her in @magculture ICYMI: Pulp is inspired by London’s k*nk scene, lesbian pulp novels and the heyday of Playboy, and was born out of a frustration with the outdated and rigid frameworks within which Eros is discussed. This sophomore edition, now featuring an uber-glossy cover, underscoring the suggestive water droplets on the glistening cherry cover art by Lisa Wang, opens with an ode to the magazine Temptress and an interview with its founder, Julie Poly. Elsewhere, readers can find an investigation into the ‘Raya-fication’ of London singles nights, a deep dive into the cultural impact of the iconic Mexican gay p*rn studio Mescos, and take lessons in leadership from the d**inatrix and educator Eva Oh. All this and more, alongside imagery by Lisa Wang and Ottilie Landmark, plus a pull-out sheet containing six graphic (in both senses of the word) stickers. Contributors: The second issue features new writing by @mercedes666_2 , @pierceeldridge and @tadhg.haran ; interviews with @cutiewhippingham , @youwillplease_me , @anastasiia_fedorova and @maedbjoy ; and photography/creative spotlights with @noxnoctus , @tomselmon / @sensored.magazine , @julie_poly / @temptressmagazine and @ottilielandmark (Photo of Eva Oh featured in Dazed by Anna Sampson) *** I stole some people’s pics from the launch party, DM for credit ***

🍒💌🌹hot people read my substack At risk of sounding ~earnest~ my first one is all about personal ads and the horny vulnerability of sharing your innermost fantasies and desires with the void (which feels a lot like launching an erotic substack several years after the newsletter boom and then describing your substack in a post to under 2k followers) In it, I talk about 2001 queer romcom Kissing Jessica Stein - one of my favourites because it not only hinges on a lonely hearts ad in the Women Seeking Women section but because it explores how messy “sexual orientation” can be, and how love and sensuality don’t always match up. It also features my fave fictional bi character: a gallerist who wears all black all the time, is terrifyingly chic and has three boyfriends on the go at any one time. I also interview @ldn.leatherdyke.ads about the intentionality behind personal ads and the way they can help queer, kinky folks be explicit about the nuances of their desire. "When the cracks began to show in our relationship, it was easy to blame it on the stresses of warehouse living. Every fight, misalignment and disagreement could be easily explained away by our unconventional living arrangement; at the back of our minds, though, we knew that the real issue was us." When writer Megan moved in with their girlfriend after nine months, it felt like the next natural step in their relationship – instead, it changed it forever. "We were stuck together as we underwent the disorienting experience of going from partners to flatmates," they write. Tap the link in bio to read their full story.

The Parisian Affair Chapter 4: SUPPLIER, to beg The tragedy of love is that often it comes to an end; betrayal, boredom, belligerence - the causes are endless. To prevent ourselves from falling into the wretched aftermath of heartbreak, we do all we can to keep that love alive. For some, that means begging. At least this is our young heroine’s reaction when her lover tells her that his wife is returning, and that there is no longer space for her in his bed. She screams. She cries. She clings to his departing legs. All the while making desperate promises. In begging we offer up everything. Goodbye is not an option. On April 23rd come hear what our wonderful authors have to offer on what it is to beg. With: Lauren J. Joseph Philippa Snow Ruth Ivo Megan Wallace Tickets £8, link on bio xx

“SWs are the canary in the coal mine for governance that then trickles down to so many other people” @bloggeronpole (Dr Carolina Are) has been my favourite Google Scholar follow for years: an academic who is cutting through the noise of the digital P*rn Wars era and advocating for SW and s*x positive communities. The pole dancing academic, activist, blogger and content creator speaks to me for the Shaggers interview series at pulpzine.substack.com. Photo: @whxretographer

Mel Perreault: World-building a utopic, queer future Sketching an alternate narrative to hegemonic beauty standards, @melejuana is interested in capturing their queer community’s sensibilities: embodying the eroticism of fluxed gender and distilling a spirit of resistance. “It’s all about celebrating toughness and depicting strength in queer, non-binary, trans, butch and lesbian+ identities. I’m trying to capture an essence or vibe, for lack of a better word, in visual form,” they say. “It’s sort of unmistakable when someone embodies that, regardless of what they physically look like, and it’s incredibly interesting the way viewers respond to this imagery, seeing themselves or their friends in larger-than-life figures.” Through references to leather culture and bulging muscles, as well as highly eroticized figures referencing sailors and cowboys, Perreault is in conversation with the legendary fetish artist Tom of Finland. So much so, the artist has their own series of “Tammys” (short for “Tammy of Finland”) which situates their pin-ups in imagined worlds of queer liberation. For @wepresent - tysm @alex.kahl

🐇 NEW FOR PLAYBOY 🐇 Looking at the rise of Christian, particularly LDS, micro-influencers exploring intra-communal topics of ‘porn addiction’ and how this content, due to the decontextualising force of the internet, has found a wider, secular audience in an increasingly conservative climate. “Many viral posts about porn addiction on TikTok are posted by Mormon or other religious influencers, and in that context, the threshold for so-called addiction is much, much lower. ‘What’s worth noting is that porn addiction is different in the LDS church,’ says Melissa Hannan, LMFT, who grew up in the Church of Latter Day Saints and now specializes in counselling former LDS members. ‘Any viewing of pornography would be considered a ‘porn addiction’.” You can read the whole thing on @playboy
