Last night, 72andSunny was named Corporate Communications/Marketing Team of the Year at the @campaign_us Agency of the Year Awards. In 2025, we brought our comms function fully in-house with a clear ambition: to build something that operates less like a traditional PR team, and more like a modern marketing engine. Outsiders by design, Damaune Journey, Meghan Hubert, and Bailey Calfee bring a trio of superpowers to 72: a new-business pro, a social media maven, and a former adland journalist. Together, they’ve rewritten what comms can do, showing up loudly, creatively, and always playing to win. Since then, it’s become a driving force behind how 72andSunny shows up in the world — megaphoning our people, our partners, and the work in ways that create real momentum. Thank you to Campaign US for recognizing a discipline that so often operates behind the scenes, and for creating space to celebrate the teams helping shape how this industry shows up, like our fellow finalists crushing the game: @curiositycincy , @rgabydesign , @vml_global + @fcbglobal šŸ¤˜ā˜€ļøšŸ†

Before I get around to posting my Cannes recap, this felt more meaningful to share first. I was featured in @prweek ’s ā€œPride in PRā€ series, talking about what I call the pendulum of Pride. The way support swings back and forth, depending on which way the wind blows. I also spoke about my own journey—how I once thought my sexuality wasn’t ā€œrelevantā€ to my work. What I’ve learned is that being seen as a queer person professionally has been just as transformative as being seen personally. The more I’ve brought my full self to work, the more I’ve thrived—and the more impact I’ve been able to make. And it’s not just internal confidence—it’s structural. It’s cultural. It’s a team sport. I’m grateful to @72andsunny_ for creating the kind of space where I feel not just safe, but elevated. Special thanks to my teammate (and fellow queer powerhouse) @baileycalfee , who didn’t just encourage me to say yes to this feature—but made sure I couldn’t say no. Behind every bold voice is someone who pushed them to use it. Thank you to Bailey for being that person for me and thank you to @prweek for the platform.

To know Bob was to know laughter. He taught me that life is just better when you don’t take it so seriously. That the point isn’t to play by the rules, it’s to enjoy it. He showed me that being a little ridiculous is actually a pretty good way to live. He was a world-class prankster, a menace, a pisser. Reprogramming my mom’s GPS to Japanese in the middle of a road trip. Stealing her phone to tweet things like, ā€œI am boring to sit with at lunch.ā€ Waking all of us up at 6am on vacation by flinging pancakes at our beds. The Huberts can be a bit… rigid. Bob never was. By the end of any Dumbfield/Stupert/Justin vacation, you could feel our whole family shift into his energy: looser, goofier, lighter. Bob was never just a neighbor to us. He was family. A second dad. He’s part of so many of my favorite memories, and he’s what made them so special. I’m grateful that so much of who he was lives on in his family. I know Melissa, Bobby, and Debbie will carry it forward: more pranks, more laughter, more of that magic that only Bob could bring. Rest easy, Bob. We’ll miss you a lot. And we’ll keep it fun for you. šŸ¤˜šŸŒŠāš“ļøā˜€ļøšŸ§”

In 2013, 72andSunny was crowned Agency of the Year by Ad Age. Thirteen years later, we’re Ad Age’s Sports & Entertainment Agency of the Year. I joined the agency four years ago, at a moment when the industry was still finding its footing post-pandemic. Even then, the competitive spirit and creative ambition that define this place were unignorable. Since then, I’ve had the joy of helping tell the story of 72 — our values, our culture, and megaphoning the work and wins that come from a team constantly pushing each other to be better and do better. Sport and entertainment feels like a category 72 was built for. Creativity here is fueled by fans, culture, and a deep belief in playing to win. More than a decade after that win, the momentum is undeniable. And playing to win feels pretty freaking good. Emphasis on the play. šŸ›šŸ„‡
