Complete digital work flow. Scanning to finished pieces, myself and Jasper @unnaturalworkshop have been working on streamlining our processes and materials to get the best results possible. Using the clear resin allows us to see how well the piece fills as well as looking damn sexy. We’ll be able to post more pics of the finished looks at a later date but wanted to showcase what we’re up to. Incredibly honoured to be nominated alongside @frances_hannon_official @sarah.nuth @laurablount_wham for the 2026 BAFTA film awards for best make-up and hair for our work on 'Wicked for Good'. On top of Frances' staggering amount of beautiful make-up and hair designs, we helped design and realise the make-ups for the Tinman and Scarecrow spending 6 - 8 months in prep during the filming of Part 1 with a very talented bunch of crew. The costumes designed by the amazing costume designer @paultazewell working with the equally amazing @robertallsoppandassociates (Tinman) What an amazing project to be involved with and such a great crew all round, bit of a childhood dream for me to be involved in re-imagining such iconic characters. Witcher 4: The Rats meet their come- uppance at the hands of Leo Bonhardt. The talented team at Coulier Creatures FX worked so hard at making these heads look so great. This is the head we made of 'Iskra' played by Aggy K. Adams from 3D printed negative waste moulds. Lots of great digital work and digital mould-making by Adam Edwards @adamedwardstech and Jasper Turner @unnaturalworkshop assisted by @charliejgoddard.sfx Performers scanned using the Artec Spider. Wicked For Good had to be a collaboration. All departments working together to create an extraordinary cinematic experience. I've often spoken about the incredible partnership my team had with @paultazewell 's costume department but here we see an example of teamwork with the make up department. Thank you Mark Coulier @mcoulier Prosthetics Make Up Designer for Boq's transformation into the Tinman. We asked Hair & Make Up designer @frances_hannon_official to introduce Key 1st Assistant Sound Arthur Fenn to Mark & his team at the very early stages so @ethanslater could have his personal @dpa_microphones 4061 Lav mic seamlessly built into the Tinman design. Ethan had a lot of physicality in his performance as well as singing live, so we wanted to find a mic rig that provided comfort for him, but also one that provided us the ability to capture his singing and dialogue cleanly following our "For Good" close mic ethos. Mark & his team couldn't have been more helpful and open minded and welcomed Arthur into their world as Ethan was rigged each day. It's this kind of collaboration between all departments that supports original performance and ultimately builds that all important connection between the audience and the story the cast and @jonmchu are telling. In the first picture you can see how Ethan arrived on-set each day with Marks team having set the DPA mic and taped it for safe keeping after the initial plan was developed between Arthur & Mark about how to rig him. Evolution of the Tinman process and how important the concept phase is in creating a character, the artists often don't get enough credit. Our Tinman started with conversations about the characters and ideas with our director John Chu, VFX maestro Pablo Hellman and Frances Hannon @frances_hannon_official and lots of reference images that were then developed into some great concepts by Paul Catling and Pietro Scola di Mambro @peter_sdm . Swipe left for just a few that were inspiration for the prosthetic sculpture, we used aspects of the various designs, honed and merged the elements into clay and digital sculptures, Sebastian Lochmann @hatch_effects beautifully brought together all the ideas and we worked on the expression and the various details like the brows and ears and the metal finish, (the neck sculpture is not in these early pics) etc. Lots to consider but these pics should give a flavour of the process. Costume designer Paul Tazewell worked with specialist body suit fabricator @robertallsoppandassociates to realise the beautiful body suit, also working out the logistics of dressing and movement in the suit, for the practical elements of the build, a big collaborative process all round. #ethanslater #wickedforgood #prostheticmakeup #tinman

Following on from my last post here is our Fiyero Scarecrow from 'Wicked for Good' designed with Frances Hannon @frances_hannon_official on the equally fabulous Johnathon Bailey @jbayleaf . We wanted to keep Johnny's handsome qualities as much as possible whilst still retaining the flavour of the Scarecrow. Lots of attention to detail to create the cloth look, from Josh's intricate painstaking sculpture of the woven material, to threading fibres through the silicone after painting the pieces and then finely flocking the pieces to give the cloth-like texture. Sculpted by @joshwestonfx from designs by Paul Catling and Pietro de Scola. All sorts of technical digital 3d scanning of textures and printing ears of corn involved in the developement and moulding, printed collapsible hand cores etc. @adamedwardstech @stinkinmutt Mouldshop @dilanwhat Georgia Fearnley @james.iovino silicone @helbrell @delsteadfx gorgeous artworking Susie Redfern and Georgie Clough. Finally able to post pics of our creations for 'Wicked for Good’ what a great opportunity for our team working with the amazing Frances Hannon @frances_hannon_official to create our versions of such well known and well loved characters of the Tinman and Scarecrow, l've always loved the original characters so this was a labour of love with help from an amazing crew, here's the Tinman on the fabulous @ethanslater : Sculptors @hatch_effects @adamedwardstech 3D sculpted printed tin hat, ears sculpted digitially by @hatch_effects from designs by Paul Catling, Pietro de Scola and my meddling input of course. Here’s a head we did a while ago of stunt performer Dan Dow for Steven Sodebergh’s ‘Black Bag’ thriller. This was before we had our Artec Spider so the scan was done with the Einscan pro HD. @adamedwardstech and Jasper Turner @unnaturalworkshop did all the digital modelling work on this film. For this particular head Jasper used macro photos to create displacement maps to enhance texture and created the ‘eggshell’ moulds digitally, We’ve done numerous heads like this now and they get better each time.
