3-4 days of templating and test prints, replaced by 15 minutes of scanning. That's how Dom Tucci describes what changed at Tucci Hot Rods, the family-run US shop that's been customizing classic cars for over 25 years. Join our webinar to see what that looks like in practice. We'll cover: • How Tucci Hot Rods uses Artec Leo to digitize vintage car parts • The complete workflow from 3D scan to custom-fabricated modification • Real-world insights from Tucci Hot Rods' expert team • How 3D scanning accelerates automotive customization Not a product demo. An open conversation with practitioners who use 3D scanning daily. Free to attend. Register via link in bio! #automotive #reverseengineering #classiccars

We use our @artec3d Leo very often while building these cars. Here’s one way we utilized scanning in our workflow. We are doing a Webinar with Artec on June 4th to talk about the different ways the scanner fits into the shop. Head to their website to sign up. @domtuccidesign #3dscanning #artec #hotrods

Odawara Castle in cherry blossom season, as captured by Artec Jet. Attached to a backpack and walked through the grounds, Artec Jet picked up everything from the main keep to the drawbridge in a single continuous point cloud. #lidar #3dscanning #pointcloud

For projects in heritage preservation, forensics, and CGI, texture is not a finishing touch. It is part of the deliverable. Getting it right means understanding how Artec Studio's texturing workflow works from capture to export. Reduce glare is a good example. The feature requires a sufficient number of texture frames captured from different perspectives, so the decisions you make during scanning shape what the algorithm can do later. Next week's technical training webinar covers the full texturing workflow in Artec Studio, including how to get the most out of Reduce glare. 20 May, 5pm CET / 8am PT. In English, with AI-powered translation available. Register here: https://ow.ly/ZkIi50YV45m

"If it takes you two minutes to walk, it'll take two minutes to scan, the complexity of the scene has little bearing." Built more than 500 years ago, Japan's Odawara Castle is a delicate piece of history in need of ongoing renovation. Recently, Artec 3D support team set out to digitize the entire structure using Artec Jet, Artec Ray II, and Artec Leo. Attached to a backpack, Artec Jet captured the scene from ground level, its 300-meter range removing the need for ladders or scaffolding on the main facade. Artec Ray II handled the inner courtyard and gate, while Artec Leo picked up the confined area behind the entrance and a nearby medieval wall, resolving tile patterns, lettering, and the wall's internals in a single sweep. All three datasets were merged in Artec Twins into a unified point cloud, ready for virtual museum tours and continuous monitoring to ensure the castle stands the test of time.

Power lines scanned with Artec Jet 60-meter transmission towers require either climbing crews or drone permits for a conventional survey. Artec Jet's 300-meter scanning range meant a single operator could walk the corridor at ground level and capture the full scene. Three passes maximized point cloud density. For cables this thin, suspended geometry typically appears as scattered noise or vanishes from the dataset altogether. Here, cables just 2mm in diameter are resolved as continuous point geometry between pylons. Tower lattice steelwork, including individual cross-members and connection plates, is fully resolved from ground level. The resulting LAZ dataset is ready for sag evaluation, clearance analysis, and infrastructure mapping workflows. #EnergyInfrastructure #LiDAR #SagEvaluation #PointCloud #LAZ

A forensic workflow demo with police. The saw scanned with Artec Spider II on the turntable, then returned to evidence storage. From there, the 3D model is what the case team works from.

Portugal’s Navy, Army, and other military branches recently gathered at CODI for a hands-on session on 3D Technologies for Defence. The day covered the full workflow: from 3D printing materials and processes through to live scanning demos with Artec Spider II, Artec Leo, Artec Jet, and Artec Micro. Thank you to CODI for putting this together and to everyone who attended!

Large open spaces like ice rinks can be deceptively difficult to digitize. They may appear simple, but overhead steel framework, lighting rigs, and ventilation ducts create a dense web of geometry that ground-based scanners can barely see, let alone capture accurately. That’s why Artec Jet was deployed to document these overhead structures without any need for scaffolding, lifts, or time-consuming tripod-based capture. Mounted to a drone, Jet flew the underside of the roof in a single autonomous mission, using AI-powered navigation and obstacle avoidance. Active scan time was 15 minutes. Total mission duration including setup was 25 minutes. The capture spans painted steel, ice, and concrete in one continuous pass, with color from the action camera mount aligned to the point cloud during processing in Artec Twins. #MobileLiDAR #PointCloud #3DScanning #DroneScanning #BIM

First hands-on Artec Jet event on the East Coast happened yesterday in Maryland! Our partner @directdimensions hosted the launch at Hatch X. Backpack configuration, tablet in hand, scanning the facility floor in real time. The full Artec 3D lineup was there too: Leo, Ray II, Spider II, Micro II, Point. But the Jet backpack was the thing nobody wanted to take off. Thanks to the Direct Dimensions team for putting this together and to everyone who came out.
