VIDE Celebrates Fourth Project Start in Six Weeks with St. Croix Educational Complex Project Launch
The Virgin Islands Department of Education @vieducation breaks ground once again, marking the start of the multi-million-dollar St. Croix Educational Complex modernization project. Contractor MCN Build Inc. will begin phase I of the project, which includes repairs to the roof, walls, guardrails, lights, doors, bathrooms, and other structural upgrades in Building 1.
In her remarks, ODR Director Adrienne L. Williams-Octalien applauded the Super Project Management Office for efficiently moving this and other high-priority projects through the process from solicitation to construction. She also thanked the project’s architecture teams for their support and FEMA for funding school and other infrastructure projects across the territory.
Congratulations to VIDE, the MCN Build Team, and all stakeholders on another project start! The ODR will continue to support partner agencies and residents of the Virgin Islands through reconstruction efforts, ensuring a resilient, sustainable future for the territory.

From colorful classroom windows to a sun-filled “heart of the school,” every detail was designed with the Fairwood community kids in mind to provide a high-performance learning environment. We can’t wait to see this community come to life!

This new campus brings together PreK–5 and 6–8 students with dedicated learning spaces, a central library at its core, and shared commons spaces for both learning and community use.
Designed with daylight, high-performance systems, and a path to net zero energy, this one is built to do more.

This 227,278 sf state-of-the-art learning facility is targeting Net Zero Energy and will accommodate K-8 students with dedicated spaces for elementary and middle school learning. At the new Marlow Heights Community Center, a vibrant community engagement process shaped a welcoming destination for recreation, gathering, and everyday connection in Prince George’s County.
Developed in partnership with design-build partner MCN build, the community hub replaces an aging facility while enhancing park amenities and preserving valuable open space. A compact, efficient footprint supports a wide range of programming, from athletics and fitness to smaller social events, maximizing both flexibility and site potential.
A huge thank you to Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) for their partnership in bringing this vision to life.

🚧 Construction continues at Harriet Tubman ES! Tubman is undergoing a full modernization of their facility and property. This project includes a full demolition of the existing structure and construction of a new 3-story building with approximately 74,000 sqft of academic, gymnasium, courtyard, and dining area for students.
The building is designed to meet LEED Gold and Net Zero requirements. Tubman ES represents progress towards equitable public education for all. 🙌 This project would not be possible without our DGS Project Manager Alex Casey, our design-build team, @mcnbuild , and @perkinseastman.washington , our client agency @dcpublicschools , and all involved!

Arlington County Fire Station No. 8 (@ArlingtonVAFD ) has received a 2025 DESIGNArlington Merit Award, recognized as a project that strengthens community and reflects a meaningful sense of place.
Shaped through more than 30 public meetings with residents, historians, firefighters and descendants of the Halls Hill Volunteer Fire Department, the project reflects the voices and legacy of the neighborhood it serves.
Originally established in 1918 by Black volunteer firefighters who protected the Halls Hill community during segregation, Station 8 has long stood as a place of safety, connection and pride. Today, the new station honors that history through storytelling elements, community virtues embedded in the architecture and a “Beacon of Light” stair tower that glows red during emergency calls.
Designed with @ArlingtonCountyVA and partners @MCNBuild , Urban Engineering, @Ehlert_Bryan_VA and Brinjac Engineering, the LEED Gold-certified station strengthens trust between first responders and the community while preparing firefighters to serve Arlington for generations.
