Changes in the park are coming thick and fast as regeneration works continue, including for Sir Joseph Paxton. His 8-foot marble bust was carefully hoisted from its spot near Stone Penge at the bottom of the terraces last week, ready to be lifted in the coming weeks onto a new plinth being constructed at his original home, on the Italian Terraces 🏗️
For those who don’t know, Paxton was the visionary behind the Crystal Palace, which once stood proudly right here in the park. So we thought it was only fair to give him a change of scenery, and he’ll be settling into his new home with a much better view – which is where he was originally positioned, close to the palace itself.

King’s Boulevard. Our recent work at King’s Cross has included paving and tree planting on King’s Boulevard.

Meet Eddie - or Eduard - one of our fantastic Maylim Landscapes Supervisors.
We recently caught up with him to hear what he enjoys most about working with the Maylim Landscapes team and what he’s most excited about in the months ahead.
“Working with Maylim Landscapes has become more than just a job for me, it’s something I genuinely enjoy every day. I love bringing life back into spaces, caring for plants, trees and gardens, and seeing how small details can completely transform an area.
My favourite part is being outdoors, creating beautiful environments and working with good people who share the same passion. 🌿
Over the next couple of months, I’m really looking forward to helping develop more sites, improving planting areas and being part of new ideas that make our spaces feel even more alive and welcoming. It’s a great feeling seeing the results of beautiful work grow week by week. 🙏🪴✨”
We’re delighted to announce Maylim’s sponsorship of the Ashover Barbarians ladies’ cricket team, one of the fastest‑growing women’s cricket groups in Derbyshire, with more than 40 players and nearly 50 matches this season.
This support is part of our wider commitment to grassroots sport, alongside our sponsorship of an Irish football team, youth football teams in Hertfordshire and World cycling champion and health advocate in Spain. Investing in community sport matters to us because it creates opportunities, builds confidence and brings people together.
As captain Jody Ren’s says:
“Since starting the ladies’ section just two years ago, we’ve become one of the largest in Derbyshire… Thank you Maylim for your amazing support.”
A big week for the Joseph Paxton bust. Standing 8ft tall and weighing 7.2 tonnes of solid marble, it was no small engineering feat to lift and relocate him but he’s now reinstated in his original position on the Italian Terraces at Crystal Palace Park.

Throwback to a project that continues to inspire us.
At the FCDO’s King Charles Quad, Maylim worked closely with @gpblandscape and Tectonix to deliver a courtyard that balances heritage with contemporary design.
From sourcing a perfect Yorkstone match to installing CNC‑cut geometric forms and revitalising historic steps with brass and basalt inlays, every detail was considered, crafted, and executed with care.
A proud moment in our portfolio, and a testament to what collaboration can achieve.

A pretty nature path along a natural desire line in the middle of Portlands, East Village, lovingly and carefully made by local and corporate volunteers from @tcv_theconservationvolunteers , using repurposed playground equipment carefully extracted from the neighbouring redevelopment of Belvedere PlaySpace by @maylimltd for @wearegetliving ,with three tonnes of woodchip kindly provided by Mitie. The final work day made all the more perfect by a visit from both the manager and founder of @signorelli_london who brought all the volunteers a free drink!
The why? When you create nature paths like this it helps define and separate the space for people and the space (to be left untrampled) for nature to thrive. Allowing people to connect with nature whilst managing footfall and protecting all the beautiful wildflowers that aren’t quite as hardy as grass.

Spring in the city. Our projects have settled into the season beautifully, vibrant colours, brighter days and boots finally free of mud.

Jay has been weaving insitu at this amazing London project. Grosvenor Square in Mayfair is undergoing a major transformation into a climate-resilient wildlife haven and woodland garden. The design, featuring 80,000 new bulbs and significantly, new wetlands, aims to create a “climate-positive” urban space that aids in mitigating the urban heat island effect.
@maylimltd has been leading this exciting transformation and we have had the great pleasure and privilege of working with Project Manager Gareth Kinsella, @gareththeone and others from Maylim.
The garden is scheduled to open this summer and involves planting design by eminent designer and professor @nigel.dunnett and @bdp_com as lead architects for buildings and landscape. We’re looking forward to sharing more on this in future!
Since August 2024, we’ve been supplying @maylimltd for works at Twelve Trees Park, West Ham.
Once the home of a former Parcelforce Depot, the redevelopment is set to consist of over 4,700 new homes, surrounded by almost 12 acres of new parkland and green spaces.
As works begin on Phase 2, we took the opportunity to revisit Phase 1 works. Materials for podium planting, including the public square leading to West Ham station (new entrance coming soon), ground level planting and multiple tree pits included our:
Lawn Rootzone, 4/10mm Marine Shingle, Ornamental Bark, Intensive Lightweight Subsoil and Topsoil, Lightweight Washed Sand Subsoil, BS3882 Topsoil and Lawn Topsoil.
We really appreciate being able to witness the progression of large-scale projects such as these, and following up months and years later to see the planting thrive, indicating our materials are working as intended.
