As I have been going through my archives I found a cover of #supermodel @cindycrawford I did in #2001 ! With her busy schedule we were given two hours to shoot this ! I went for a very #naturalmakeup but she looked beautiful with no makeup ! the minute she walked into the studio ! She was so professional & kind to me . Been digging through & organizing my archive of published work of 40 plus years , and stumbled on this early gem—back when I was juggling roles as editor, hair, and makeup artist for a downtown mag called Project X. Which I got during my club kid era, at The Lime Light , clubbing one night .,It was all very DIY: I’d round up models, including my good friend Eric Hester (who was fashion editor at Mademoiselle at the time), and we’d make it happen—no budget, just favors, borrowed designer pieces (always returned, of course), and a whole lot of creative hustle. This particular shoot was a Guy Bourdin-inspired one. After it dropped, I pulled together a portfolio, bought a one-way ticket to Milan with maybe a grand in my pocket, and just went for it. A summer of proving myself later, I landed a NY-based editor for Italian Bazaar ,Great times ! Everything was about to happen for me…
