Announcing TAKE CARE, a new quarterly listening room benefit show presented by @keeledscales and @emetricia.archive in partnership with @alienatedmajestybooks . 🤝 Pairing two musicians and one reader every quarter to fundraise for causes we believe in, our very first show will take place on October 9th from 7:30-9:30PM and features some of our favorite Austin acts going right now. Channeling the spirit and legacy of living room DIY spaces in support of building and bettering our communities the best way we know how (through music and art), we cordially invite you to step into this intentional space to enjoy musical performances by Eternal Now! and Lucía Beyond as well as a reading from Jenny Tinghui Zhang. Entry for these shows is strictly donation-based, and while we suggest a sliding scale donation of $10-20, No One will be Turned Away For Lack Of Funds, so please attend the show even if you are unable to donate. 100% of this quarter's donations will go towards @gazasoupkitchen , and we plan to platform and fundraise for a different organization—local, national, or international—every quarter. INTRODUCING THE EMETRICIA ARCHIVE for anyone that has ever asked me what i do with my camcorder footage... here it is! because memory is what you make it 🫂 500+ shows 1000+ sets 10+ years of Austin's indie music scene from my perspective named and dedicated to my loving grandmother Emetricia Maliwat Gabagat because id trade away all of this show footage to be able to have the chance to sit down and interview her before she passed in 2016; she's the main reason i picked up a camcorder 📹 more thoughts soon but this project is equal parts nostalgia and equal parts archive; while a personal project and undertaking i look forward to sharing it with anyone who may be interested and now you know my grandmother's name if you didn't before love, marlon ❤️
