🪐 Host Publications has been awarded The Constellation Award and we’re celebrating with Battle of the Constellations: A Celestial Fête at @alienatedmajestybooks on May 15th! The evening will pin all of the zodiac signs against each other in an inspired match-campaign set against the dreamy backdrop of our favorite writers, artists, and musicians! Come dressed in your most ethereal look! 🛸 We’re thrilled to feature: + readings by @debolinunferth and @taisia.kitaiskaia + music by @wakeupspaceboy + tarot readings by @moonandmouth + live-printing by @strawberry_milkweed + drinks by @purocoffeeco + shooting star photo backdrop by @arfranklinstein & @sammy_ness_atx + event photography by @carrdi.mp4 🔭 At 9pm, we will be crowning “the best zodiac sign” determined by which zodiac raises the most funds! Can’t attend the event, but want to donate and champion your zodiac? Head over to givebutter.com/Constellation to join the fun! “During this time of increased violence against the most vulnerable members of our communities and against those who insist on bearing witness, the role of independent publishers that champion the voices of people of color is vital. Their lively functioning—imperiled by the dismantling of federal funding and institutional attacks on diversity—is crucial to the maintenance of our vibrant literary landscape and our democratic chorus. Host Publications, has demonstrated an abiding support of queer and BIPOC writers for decades and offers inspiring and concrete visions for how to meet our current moment.” - Poet and CLMP Board Member Deborah Paredez 🐐 Currently in the lead: Capricorns! 🌟 RSVP & donation link in bio!

❤️ We are currently open for full-length poetry manuscript submissions through June 1st, 2026 (11:59pm CDT)! ❤️ Our mission as an independent, intersectional feminist press is to publish groundbreaking poetry by women writers, BIPOC writers, LGBTQ+ writers, writers of a lower socio-economic status, and writers with disabilities. We want to champion work that is experimental, especially writing that queers language and meaning-making. We want to celebrate writing by survivors, writing that explores alternative and subversive cultural experiences, writing that engages with a poetics of liberation. Send us your strangest, queerest, most tender, riotous writing. Send us work that explores the limits of form, voice, language and style—the full spectrum of what poetry can do. Submissions are open to any US-based poet. Though we love and have historically published works in translation, all submissions for this period must be original work written in English. Awardees for The Joe W. Bratcher Prize are selected by our editors from our annual manuscript open call. ❤️ Host Publications awards writers with $6,000, 25 author copies, dedicated editorial work from our skilled editors, a book launch in Austin, Texas, and energetic promotion from our staff. We also offer our authors the opportunity to be a guest on our literary podcast @thehostdispatch ❤️ As always, we encourage to all who submit that familiarize themselves with our most recent publications. You may purchase our titles on our website or through our awesome distributor, @asterism_books ! ❤️ Follow the “Submit Your Work” link in our bio to review the general guidelines on our Submittable page!

✨❤️‍🔥 Host Publications has been awarded The Constellation Award! Thank you @clmporg ❤️‍🔥✨ ❤️‍🔥 This prize recognizes an independent literary press for their excellence in publishing and work that champions the writing of people of color, including Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and Asian American & Pacific Islander individuals. With this honor, we are in lineage and siblinghood with other presses we admire, such as last year’s winner @kayapress and this year’s finalist @cavankerrypress . If you have followed our journey since the passing of our beloved mentor Joe W. Bratcher, you know it’s been a challenging one. Especially as we continue our devotion to publishing historically marginalized writers in an increasingly hostile world. If you have learned anything about Host Publications, however, is that we are resilient, we are fierce, unwavering and unapologetic. We stand by our authors, our mission, and the literature we want to see more of in the world! With that being said, in a moment when we are actively being oppressed or discouraged to do the work we do, we are surprised, overwhelmed, and completely honored to be celebrated in this way. ⭐️ This award generously arrives with the prize of $10,000, which we will use to continue our mission in publishing literature by historically marginalized writers and provide free, fun, and lively literary programming to our Central Texas community! Wanting to share this with our community, we’d love to inspire you to donate to our Battle of the Constellations fundraiser (teams are zodiac signs! Link in bio) Our pals at @alienatedmajestybooks will be throwing us a fête on May 15th, 2026, where we will crown the best constellation! We are excited to celebrate this prize, dream up a better world together, and to be in community with you. In solidarity, Annar & Claire
