Melt’s debut record “If There’s a Heaven” is OUT!
We tracked live-to-tape at
@flyingcloudrecordings , without any sound isolation or headphones, and minimal overdubs. This is a live-band album that captures the beauty & frequency of what it was to be at Sam’s studio and abandon anything close to how we’ve recorded before. There is no fluff, no studio tricks–it is raw & what you hear is what we tracked. The record captures what it is to be a band and a musical bond at its 7-year mark, with the help of
@AndresValbuena who stepped behind in the kit in ’22.
To me, it’s a true record of the 10 days we spent recoding in December– preceded by a trip to Mexico… I can’t remember many specifics from our in the studio because it was a true vortex, but the recordings help me remember the highlights.
When I hear Plant the Garden, I think of accidentally picking up a 12-string acoustic and
@ericgabriel discovering his love for the harpsichord, when I hear the Idiot I picture
@bigron belting their ass off over blasting monitors at midnight on our last night of recording, when I hear Communion I picture
@lucas.saur laying on the floor tracking with his eyes closed ….. all good photos here taken by
@cjharvey2 , the rest by yours truly on the trusty old iPhone
