FEASTER DINNER at @magentahouse.redfern last night! 🐣🍽️🍗🥬🌾🍛This dinner arose from a WhatsApp group chat about cross-cultural recipes, testing ingredients and well-being tips bc why not! Family holidays like Easter and Xmas can be an isolating time for those living away from the homelands, so making and sharing nostalgic meals together with chosen-family is the diasporic hug we needed 🥹🗾 On the menu: Kuku Sabzi, Ketupat, Kalio Brisket rendang, Chicken coconut adobo, Pepes tahu, Turmeric marinated tempe, Turon & Coco jam w ice cream, Mixed-mushroom adobo, Butterfly Pea & Lemongrass Rice, Ginger scallion egg noodles, Garlic Prawns, Asian Vegetables + an assortment of snacks and drinks! Foods by @mamalomo @margeyyyyyy @marzigold w task bunny assistance from @jareth_duke @masonkimber and Mark 😘 Plus, Turon Hot-Cross Buns from @taguan.cafe and Classic Hot-Cross Buns from @blackstarpastry for dat Easter touch! The feast was followed by Shakti mat sessions to aid digestion and homestyle foot baths @marzigold prepared for guests to improve blood flow and muscle aches (comprising barley, magnesium salt, makrut, bay leaves, peppermint and coconut oils, ginger & butterfly pea). Foot spa simulation was elevated by a turbooo fish toy @margeyyyyyy randomly bought from Aldi (see last slide) I think we need to buy 4 more! 🐠🎣🤖🤖🤖 Magenta Day Spa next, yes? 🧖🏾‍♀️👽 Happy Easter to those who celebrate /observe! 🐣

This is what you think it is… @mstarmach & I got married on the weekend. Here are the very us pre-wedding photos that the lovely + talented ✨ @_ada_tuna 🐟 (last pic is her in the flesh) helped us capture on film. We just wanted photos we’d actually want to print. I don’t really know how to explain that most of the reason we felt inspired to get married was seeing HUUUUGE piles of gardening supplies in the car park at Bonnyrigg gardening centre in 2021 (image 9). It looked like another planet. We were never that excited about the usual places, visuals or motifs they didn’t feel like us. Hennywayyyy that was the kernel of the idea Mark brought to Ada when he asked if she’d take photos of us with piles of sand and rocks for our pre wedding photos. I’m so grateful she said yes to chasing the 🌞and schlep and the laughs and my mochi car snacks I made and all the rock dust and the forklift man yelling at us because of our ‘uni assignment’ photos (these are them) 🤭. I’m pretty sure the majority of older people I sent it to were actually quite confused and left me on read like this 😶‍🌫️. It’s ok it’s a bit weird, I get it. Also I just look better in black. Whatever m8, Mark and I love these so much. We didn’t actually make these images for the gram. 🇵🇭 🔥Homemade Pinoy polvoron = OG NO BAKE 'SHORTBREAD'.Toasted oat + black sesame flav from @angela.dimayuga 's Filipinx. 😘👌 Chef's kiss, best ever! This batch was 70% for @vladimirmendigorin 's bday recently and 30% 'taste testers' 💖✨ . 🍬Polvoron is EVERYWHERE during events and Xmas for Filipinos. The handiest, most portable and giftable of our sweets! You can't leave a house or party without a handful, even slipped in your pocket or bag without permission from a Tita💃 I'm used to the more mass produced ones, my mum favoured the peanut flav. These were next level in comparison. . I have 1kg of milk powder so I'll probably make a million for Xmas gifting🤣 Maybe I need a real mold. The recipe from Filipinx is quality for a first try or a seasoned pro! Cutting the usual base recipe of plain toasted flour w/ oat flour makes it more nutty delicious and black sesame is honestly the only one I need👌🔥 I might make the butter component 'burnt butter' next batch, but that's all. . I didn't have a proper mold (it molds + compresses the mix), so I used a cute 'lil IKEA daisy ice cube mold and really pressed the mix in with teaspoons. I didn't want anything to go wrong, so I added a little extra melted butter and put the tray of unmolded polvoron the freezer for 30 mins to make super super sure they DEFINITELY SET and didn't collapse on me (edit: I've since tried this in the fridge for a few hours to set it and that works too!). I mostly didn't trust the non proper mold tbh... . 👩‍🔧Sweatshop mode to hand press and wrap these. Packed with a bit of super filo coconut fibre (coir)🥥 in the bottom of the box (pic 10), you can also pop this sustainable packaging padding in your plants or compost to aerate the soil after!

🔥Filo restaurant @takam.syd is back baby!!!! 🇵🇭 Honoured to get a sneak peek on opening night and celebrate amongst the Filipino community. 🫶🏻Faves: - the lumpia Shanghai wrapped in a perilla leaf - Filo x Korean vibes❤️ - The CHICKEN INASAL - a coal-roasted classic and maybe my fave in Sydney - The Barramundi sinaglay, coconut, black garlic and silverbeet - like laing fish! 🍹the dranks - there's tapuey, mango pina coladas, the pandan one was 👌🏻 I actually got so excited I left my backpack behind 🎒🤣 Pic 2 is @imhappylipina 's last min spoon microphone 🥄🎙️ Thank you to Team Takam from the servers and chefs to @belle.o_ and @mike_builds21 for such a great night. Happy Father's Day to me👼🏻  This is the second father's day I've been no contact. For me today is about celebrating the most reliable, loving and supportive father I have: ✨myself✨. Cue photodump of me dadding around. 👞 It's not always easy, but It's a decision I am greatful to have the privilege, the support and the means to make.  This decision was in the best interest of the sanity, mental health and safety of myself, Mark, my mother and family. Honestly it's taken a lot of the chaos and fuckery out of this date and allowed me to focus on better things.  ~Piccies of me being a dad~ 🍳1. Super dad - brekkie in bed while on holidays. Making my customary childhood 'soup' out of plants and sea water on the pier a la Rick Stein. The best/worst fishing day was when I decided to eat all the eyes out of the bait. Everyone was pretty freaked out.  💹4. CEO dad: Making deals and scheming in my leather chair. Step into my office 🏙️5. Dad in the city: Harry high pants + dad hat on the main drag in the big smoke.  🧺6. Picnic dad: Doing the heavy lifting with a vintage KFC family thermos for the whole crew.  👩🏻‍✈️7. Pilot dad: flying a plane over the sea. Got my dad pose down. Sadly closing at the end of July, but apparently this isn't the end end 🙏🏼Plus we still have @tita.carinderia 🥹 My cousin Pam @cruz.pma and I made a pilgrimage. She got a mix of ube polvoron, Thai milk tea, pandan coconut and I got my strawberry milkshake. 🎁 🍓My pick: strawberry milkshake - DUH! Not an icing feind, but I love the texture of the plush icing with the soft dough. The best case version of a super nostalgic childhood donut, also happens to look like the quintessential donut in the Simpsons. ☕Pam's pick: Thai milk tea - good if you usually like original glaze, but want to dip your toe into other flavs. Not too strong or sweet. The spice notes of star anise, crushed tamarind and cardamom make this 👌🏼 🌬️PSSST! (the signature Filipino mum call) Grab a donut and pretend you're Mamang Sorbetero (uncle Sorbetero) with the cute dirty ice cream cart *points with lips* while it's still ober derr 💖🔥🙏🏼 Last pic is the best concrete graffiti I've ever seen...was it a pigeon, a chicken or a minor bird? We'll never know....🦃🤣

🙏🏼🎑🍶cosy kanpais, hefty wooden stools, A+ staff and so so yum. @amuro.au truly feels like a fancy neighbourhood sake place. Complete with the hospitality and cute easter eggs/quirks of a small local joint that make you smile. My sake cup (literally) runneth over (see pic/vid 2) ⛲ A reunion w/ former co-workers @el_jannah_garlic_sauce + @___yuuj 🫶🏼 🍶Fave sake was the one mixed with umeshu that toned down the usual sweetness (umeshu umeno ongaeshi ichinomiya). My fave - the frilly looking scallop dish 🌸 Mary's fave - prawn skewer w/ kabocha chowder👌🏽 Yujin's fave - ama-ebi (sweet 🦐) w/ fingerlime. Everything was good though! Shout out to the perfectly cooked duck and the charry pork belly w/ kosho and pickled onion 🔥 ☕Get the coffee jelly, it melts in your mouth. We ordered the boba tasting sake too - insane but soooo sweet in comparison. Worth a try though - share it! 🤌🏼🤫Apparently you gotta chitty chat with the servers and become a cosy regular to be able to reserve a seat.
