Stoked to have @venicefilmfestival pick one of our favorite @wsl commissioned films ‘Sawubona’ to play this Thursday the 25th down at @thewaterfrontvenice (starts at 7pm). Come hang and watch some amazing surf films by local Venice filmmakers!
Swirl Effect: “The GrIswirl Story” highlights how @grIswirl made history by transforming their community and the face of skate through their grassroots efforts. Through their work, they raised over 40k for local charities, taught hundreds of kids skateboarding, and empowered thousands of women to embrace each other and come together to skate around the globe. The documentary also delves into the parallel story of how Carver Skateboards overcame skepticism from the core surf and skate community and revolutionized the world of surfskating. And despite facing initial resistance, how Carver’s innovative trucks became the worldwide leader of the surfskate movement.

It didn’t take much time with some new local friends to realize that Cuba’s deep cultural divide is actually easy to remedy.
Keen to talk to someone from somewhere else for a change, we found locals wanted to practice their English and hear about where we were from. The country’s decades-long isolation has bred a thirst for outside knowledge and interactions that makes it the most welcoming place to explore.
