One year ago, Massachusetts took action and passed its strongest gun safety legislation since 2014.
The Coalition advocated tirelessly with our state and national partners for key policies that successfully made it into the final version of this law. Research shows that strong gun laws like this one save lives - and we are committed to making sure that this lifesaving law is fully implemented.
➡️ Swipe to learn more about key policies contained in this groundbreaking law.

Sunday was a beautiful day to be in community at the @peaceinstitute Mother’s Day Walk for Peace!
Together, we honored the lives lost to violence and recommitted ourselves to the work of healing and prevention. Showing up in community and supporting our member organizations is an essential part of the Coalition’s mission and this event is a highlight of our calendar every year. As we close an especially difficult week of gun violence in Greater Boston, the Peace Institute’s work transforming responses to homicide and violence is more important than ever.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on the walk and donated to support their critical work! 🧡💜

Join us for our next Lunch & Learn with Sana Fadel from @cfjjma !
We will discuss one of our legislative priorities — the Raise the Age bill (S.1061 / H.1923). This bill would keep 18-20 year olds in the juvenile justice system, allowing them to access more developmentally appropriate services, such as education and counseling.
This bill prevents gun violence at its roots — by investing in proven solutions that disrupt harmful cycles and allow young people to access care, support and real opportunities to succeed.

‼️ ACTION ALERT! ‼️
Community violence intervention programs (CVI) save lives, breaking cycles of violence and supporting our young people most at risk — but they can't do this lifesaving work without stable investment.
🗣️ Contact your state senator and urge them to increase funding for community violence intervention (CVI) programs in the FY27 budget! Simply click on the link in our bio, fill out the form, and press send!
If you’re able, we strongly encourage you to personalizee your message. Sharing a brief story or why this issue matters to you can make a real impact.
Thank you for your advocacy! 🧡
Earlier this afternoon, a gunman opened fire with a rifle into passing traffic on Memorial Drive in Cambridge. Multiple witnesses described hiding in nearby buildings, jumping from their vehicles and running for their lives. It ended with a shootout with police, where the suspect was shot and now in custody. At this time, at least one person is reported injured.
This horrifying event follows a traumatic weekend in Boston — where three separate shootings killed one person and injured four, including two on Mother’s Day.
We don’t have to live like this. Every shooting is a tragedy and a call to action — and we will continue to take action until such calls are no longer needed. We are devastated by these shootings and our hearts are with the victims, their loved ones and the communities impacted by this violence.

We were proud to support our partner @jane.doe.inc at their Spring Into Action Celebratory Reception this week! 💜🧡
The event raised critical funds for JDI’s work supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence across Massachusetts, while honoring advocates, legal experts, and community partners leading the fight to end violence in the Commonwealth.
At the Coalition, we know that guns make domestic and sexual violence much more deadly. We can’t address the gun violence crisis without centering survivors of abuse, and we can’t end domestic and sexual violence without acknowledging the role firearms play in it.
We’re grateful to stand alongside such dedicated advocates and partners in this work. Together, we’re building a safer Massachusetts, free from violence and abuse.

Last Friday, we teamed up with our partners at @bradybuzz and @teamenough — bringing together college students from @amherstcollege , @hampshirecollege , @smithcollege , @harvard , and @umass for an advocacy workshop and State House visit!
Students left with a grounding in gun violence as a public health crisis, concrete advocacy tools, and a briefing on three Coalition policy priorities: budget line items that increase community violence intervention (CVI) funding, the Industry Accountability Bill, and the Raise the Age Bill. After the workshop, they walked to the State House together and spoke with legislators and their staff about why these policies matter.
This is the heart of our mission - equipping young people with the tools, knowledge, and access to show up in the halls of power and make a difference in their communities.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Brady and Team Enough for your partnership and commitment to state-level solutions rooted in community power!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for last week’s Lunch & Learn!
We’re so grateful to our speaker Ava Sasani from @teamtrace for sharing her reporting and expertise with us about the intersection of gun violence and immigration enforcement in the United States. We also discussed The Trace’s ICE map, which tracks shootings connected to immigration raids, and what it reveals about who’s being impacted.
