For #SmithCollege senior Anne-Marie Martin ’26, the search for representation led her straight to the archives of sci-fi legend Octavia Butler. Supported by a Cromwell Fellowship, the chemistry major traveled to The Huntington Library in CA to conduct an intensive deep dive into Butler’s legacy—capturing over 1,700 archival photos along the way. Now the recipient of the Ida B. Wells Prize, Anne-Marie has spent her senior year ensuring these "treasure troves" of Black sci-fi are available for the next generation of visionaries.
