Feeling very heart-full for the spaces we’ve built together these past three years with Su Mano Amiga Creative Dance at @siobhandaviesstudios A co-production between @nancymayroberts and myself, and nothing without the pillars of this community in Elephant & Castle and across London. Massive gratitude for the facilitators (@annaalvarez_ @nicolecastillo.mavromatis @moyra_silva @atabey_mamita @pepaduartes ) that have been a part of this journey and for the participants who have taught me so much. _______________________________________ Su Mano Amiga Creative Dance sessions are free survivor-led movement and dance workshops run by SDS. There are two sessions a month, for women and children, led by expert Latin dance artist facilitators. These are inclusive of transwomen, non-binary and gender non-conforming people. Centring the local Latinx community, sessions are facilitated in Spanish and English. ‘Su mano amiga’ means ‘your helping hand’ in Spanish - a name that comes from the local charity that founded these workshops with Siobhan Davies Studios in 2021.

We generate the conditions for dance and choreography to thrive - resourced, generative, emergent and multiple. Metal & Water was founded by @nancymayroberts in 2023 and brought into being through close co-holding and collaboration with @llllaaaawwww , @elsabetter and @lucebabes (me!) WILD MIX (work in progress performance) by Jenny Moore @jennymooresmysticbusiness Come and see what we’ve been cooking up at @cafeotodalston 21st September, 7:30pm. Ticket link in bio! 📷 by @rosiealicewilson Wild Mix is an immersive choral punk musical - a storytelling song cycle performed by a queer choir & crew of kickboxers. They're friends, lovers, colleagues, housemates. They're trying to figure out how to feel alive. Rooted in communal singing, kickboxing and drumming, the work is built from these embodied practices that Jenny and her comrades use in their daily lives. For survival. For joy. To fall in step, to align, to figure out, how can we be alone, together? With vocals and drums, punch-bags and beats, we gather ourselves up to create some kind of embodied, ritual "yes." We ask - is it possible to sing yourself back to life? At Cafe Oto, Moore will present a work-in-progress sharing of Wild Mix with 5 singers, drummers, a kickboxer and premiere her new instrument: a water-filled boxing bag fitted with a hydraphone as beating heart of the soundscape. In keeping with Moore's joyful, highly energetic, political work, there'll be loads and loads of singing, some storytelling, some bangers, some sad ones.
