The Joystick and The Reins
Friday 15 & Saturday 16 August at 7.30pm
The Joystick and The Reins is a new performance work by Eve Stainton, drawing upon historical reenactments, police and riot arrest imagery and 1980s Crime Watch episodes to explore how threat is constructed and maintained in society.
Stainton is accompanied on stage by the 52 players of Sinfonia Smith Square orchestra conducted by Jack Sheen, performing Ennio Morricone’s seminal music for sci-fi horror blockbuster The Thing (1982). The first time the score will be performed live, the music has been specially prepared for the project by The Morricone Estate from the composer’s handwritten manuscripts.
The Joystick and The Reins is co-commissioned by Bold Tendencies, Dansehallerne (
