Taking stock of the audience support and generous validation I received when I spilled the beans on #birthtrauma in @thedirtymother #maternalmentalhealthweek is a sobering time for many of us. A reminder that 1 in 4 people who birth will experience trauma and/or medical neglect. 6 years on from @thedirtymother ‘s premiere @theblueroomtheatre , 3 award noms and a chapter in ‘Performing Maternities’ @intellectbooks … this unclean story from maternity is coming up from her Post-natal Underworld one more time at RECLAIM FESTIVAL @exeternorthcott and @matrescencefestival produced by the awesome @lizzyhumber Grateful to be bringing this work to such welcoming spaces. 12 days until we bring Matrescence Festival to @barnstaplelibrary for the morning, sharing songs with mother artists @mssailingstones @gabbyyoungofficial and the powerful voices of The Rebel Chorus. With insight and reflection on matrescence with @movinginmatrescence This is a space especially for mothers to come together and reflect on their journey to and through motherhood, at any stage. All experiences are welcome, everyone who is interested is welcome. This is a parent accessible space, the content is grown up but kids are welcome as they are. There will be chance to grab a cuppa, meet each other, and get your cup filled up with music, good chat and good company. You don’t need to live in Barnstaple and you don’t have to have a child with you, your children may be grown up or you may have grandchildren now.
