Thank you NYC! @theebonycanal was experienced in one of the most iconic theaters in New York City, the @ifccenter and the energy in that room was nothing short of powerful. Gratitude to @levelforward for curating such an intentional and impactful Movies & Movements event in honor of Black Maternal Health Week. The panel featured industry icons, @AndreaAmbam @Lady_whitehead @_iiritu_ @ReginaDavisMoss that followed was filled with truth, insight, and a shared commitment to pushing this conversation forward. A special salute to @aftershockdoc ‘s @Tonyalewislee and the many icons, advocates, and leaders like @pizelt @itsseanc @catmac29 @iamksealsallers who showed up, poured in, and reminded us why this work matters. Be a vessel.

In honor of Black Maternity Week, I made this post after attending Movies and Movements on Motherhood hosted by AMC x @levelforward . Thank you to @midorablenyc for inviting me!! The conversation were inspired by the films screened earlier in the day, including You Are Not Alone by @glamruss —which highlights maternal mortality in the Bronx—and Aftershock, directed by @tonyalewislee , showing the lives and families impacted after preventable maternal deaths. To all the mothers, especially black moms: your voice matters. Trust it, and never hesitate to speak up when something doesn’t feel right. And you don’t have to be pregnant nor expecting to show care, advocacy, and support. It takes a community to protect and uplift maternal health.
