Intrigued by everything that emerged through the performative installation 𝕋𝕒𝕝𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝔹𝕒𝕔𝕜𝕨𝕒𝕣𝕕𝕤; 𝕒 𝕗𝕝𝕚𝕡 𝕔𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕥 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕤𝕝𝕠𝕨 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕘 by 𝘒𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘢 𝘥𝘦 𝘑𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘦 @kajdejonge during the 𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘎𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘛𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 / 𝘞𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 @stichtingplaatsmaken as part of the 𝕋𝕚𝕞𝕖 𝕆𝕦𝕥 / 𝕋𝕦𝕟𝕖 𝕀𝕟 program that I organise.      Thanks to everyone who contributed! <3 𝐋𝐞𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬; 𝘚𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯! 𝘚𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵! 𝘏𝘰𝘴𝘵!      How can you weave with thoughts? 𝘛𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 by artistic researcher and maker 𝕂𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕜𝕒 𝕕𝕖 𝕁𝕠𝕟𝕘𝕖 is a performative installation that, echoing bell hooks’ notion of talking back, creates space to speak against silence and invisibility. Visitors were invited to slow down and write their thoughts onto a large, visible canvas, where remarks, scribbles, and marks weave themselves into a shared image. It is more than a wall of lament: every note enters into dialogue with what is already there, revealing voices that might otherwise remain hidden. A projection acts as a gentle guide: a dialogical landscape that asks questions and makes connections visible, while the canvas grows in phases, tracing the passage of time layer by layer. 𝘛𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘴 invites participants to decelerate and think out loud, allowing a quiet, ongoing dialogue between image, text, and viewer to emerge.      Katinka de Jonge 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘺𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯 𝘷𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘯-𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘴. She consistently links a theoretical approach to her artistic practice. With her keen observational capacity, De Jonge enters into dialogue with carefully chosen contexts: a neighbourhood, a specific professional group, an art house, exposing the tension between everyday reality and the invisible power relations that play a role in it.

The project “Wij Water” was again a perfect way to collaborate with the amazing @lenncox and her Transfer Resort practice. We made “handtowel bags” to hold some materials for a water-writing workshop with youngsters in the municipality Sittard-Geleen. See other Transfer Resort editions at @mvma_wiedjai_dihal__lenn_cox 🟥first towel image: Chipko movement, inspired by Gandhian principles of nonviolence, Chipko protesters embracing a tree to prevent its felling in rural India. The Chipko activist of the 1970s and 1980s saved their forests by highlighting the deep interdependence between humans and nature. This water-writing-workshop was created together with @renmiles who guided seeing trees as waterfalls✨and we invited @boswachtermarit to share her knowledge on taking care for forests and how to follow the streams of water in an ecosystem. Wij Water is a prologue presentation from a 2 year work about the waters in the municipality of Sittard-Geleen @hetnieuwedomein

Wij hadden vanochtend een practicum artistieke samenwerking met Gijs Frieling, voorzitter van onze Raad van Toezicht. Samen met onze curatoren Sunflower Soup en Lenn Cox schilderden we telkens een spiegelbeeld van het werk van iemand anders. Daarna maakten we er een tak op met bladeren, bloemen en zware vruchten. Daar weer na tekenden we diverse blaadjes uit ons hoofd maar wel in samenspraak. Hoeveel inhammen heeft een eikenblad? Tot slot een gesprek over dynamieken en dingen waarvan je je afvraagt of je ze zomaar kunt zeggen zonder dat je misschien uit de groep valt. Het was een mooie ochtend waarin we eens te meer beseften wat er allemaal nodig is om soepel een gezamenlijk project te doen slagen. Nu hadden wij vandaag natuurlijk al prachtige pigmenten van de master himself ;) maar in groter perspectief: volgend jaar maken we met al deze mensen opnieuw een mooi programma!

Every place we stopped felt like a portal, a loop in time tuning in with multiple feminst struggles in Arnhem and beyond. Thank you to everyone who participated!    Looking back on the 𝐋𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 @stichtingplaatsmaken , the 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤 by 𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦 𝘬𝘳𝘶𝘭 and 𝘛𝘢𝘣𝘦𝘢 𝘕𝘪𝘹𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘧𝘧. In which they activated Arnhem’s forgotten legacy of Black feminist organizing with the help of the book 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠:𝐔𝐦𝐨𝐣𝐚 𝐙𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞 𝐕𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭. Co-edited with 𝘈𝘯𝘴 𝘚𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘶𝘢𝘭 @ajwsaria @readingerrata @tamarahartman and @mirellevantulder and published by @archival_textures . (more in comments)    The pages came to life as they were read aloud at various locations in Arnhem north by multiple participants, among them @periphery_center 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 @pelumiadejumo @yussername and @yessica.deira . It is wonderful and intense to feel the urgency to take up and build on the conversations around racism captured in Umoja. LENTE SAMENSCHOLING BIJ PLAATSMAKEN | 17 - 22 MAART De komende vier jaar gaan we een experiment aan waarin twee parallel aan elkaar lopende programma’s elkaar doorkruisen en versterken. I made this unfolded archive box as a 𝐭𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫 to house the 𝕋𝕚𝕞𝕖 𝕆𝕦𝕥/𝕋𝕦𝕟𝕖 𝕀𝕟* prompts. Over the next few seasons and years, this will move through different areas and contexts at @stichtingplaatsmaken and can be given new layers.   𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬: ecological hemp textile, hundred year old linen and handspun wool died with turmeric and natural vinegar, nichiban tape, double sided riso printed @risowiso and hand-stamped 𝕋𝕚𝕞𝕖 𝕆𝕦𝕥/𝕋𝕦𝕟𝕖 𝕀𝕟(𝕋𝕆𝕋𝕀) prompts.   These 𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝕋𝕆𝕋𝕀 prompts invites to collectively explore how we relate to certain thematics. Reflecting on slowing down, intergenerationality, support systems, survival strategies, seasonal work, archival matters and community economies. Prompts are navigation cards that I collect and develop on an ongoing basis with questions and insights. As reminders and ways to activate exchange. Constantly shifting roles; from reflector and activator, to cross-pollinator and questioner. Maintenance matters is a celebration to those things already there. To re-use, re-cycle, re-taste, re-member. I see it as an seasonal gathering, that each time could be organized within collaboration with a place. It’s about looking back and reflecting as well as playing and letting go. In the last months I’ve been diving into my rhythms and structure of life and work, balancing those while moving a lot can be a challenge. How to ground your practice within these movements? Instead of turning that into a project to solve, @lenncox invited me to pull it a little closer, pull it into the everyday, care for it and return to it. Don’t expect it to leave, but inviting it to stay, relate to it, maintain it. This is where maintenance matters came up, I was curious to hear how others deal with creating structure and rhythm within the precarious practices we share. How to make this maintenance softer? We gathered around flour, in the off hours of @bakkerij.mater hosted together with @sashavanaalst , to share dreams and doubts and enjoy the shared space and a shared recipe. What I take from this gathering is the memory, an embodied memory to maintain and care for daily routines within work and life. That here lies the breathe. A playfully memory, that informs, inspires daily gestures. Thank to all who came to wonder and play. And big thank you to lenn and sasha supporting and simmering together.
