At the end of 2025, as part of Curator Bank run by @visualartssw and @theburtonatbideford I had the joy of connecting with JJ Tipton, curator at @cabbage.arts and Tate St Ives. Their generosity of time and reflection resulted in my rider (extracts here, fully doc 🔗 ☝️). Producing an #artistrider focused on values, and access, came about as a way of communicating some particularities of a practice that have been evolving over the last few years. An evolution I haven’t done alone 💫. The shift has been support with training from @mudandculture @smallthingscreativeprojects on all things #permaculture thanks to an @anartistsinfo #artistbursary, participation in 2023 Constellations programme run by @upprojects with @liverpoolbiennial and @flattimeho , and being awarded a studentship by @uwebristol to carry out a PhD exploring commoning as a form of socio-ecological practices in our time of climate emergency (work in progress …) 💫🙏

‘From and To’ @bridportarts …a potent process exploring #freedoms with others, in some way it also feels like a bit of a love letter to my home county of #Dorset … on until 15 Nov 2025 From and To is both an exhibition about #creative freedoms and a place for creative freedoms to be explored together, a ‘commons’ of sorts. At the centre of the exhibition is Laura Eldret’s large-scale #curtain #installation snaking across the gallery. Newly commissioned for the exhibition, the curtain features imagery informed by conversations with individuals and communities of #Dorset. Visitors and residents are invited to take part in a range of ways, including the Honestly #honestyshop, and by contributing to the evolving gallery wall display of ‘creative freedoms’ . From and To refers to the idea of having ‘freedom from’ and ‘freedom to’ as distinct forms of freedom. This exhibition contemplates #creativity as something that is for everyone to engage in, as a vital source of freedom. Apples Session this Saturday in From and To exhibition @bridportarts 1 - 3pm Bridport Community #Orchard 🍎🍏are inviting you to drop in and take part in various #apple based activities and making, that’ll weave together the deep connections of #people #place and #creativity that flourish at the orchard. It also connects to other appley vibes that keep on arising in my work and also resonate in the Bridport area including; apples at @westdeanfineart gardens which i was obsessed with during my residency there last year, thoughts on the apple as a kind of #pomegranate like symbol for england, general #applelove, and #appleday which was originated in 1990 by #CommonGround, a #Bridport based organisation. We are delighted to partner with @morethanponies and @leldret for a session of “free reading” at the reading rooms this Saturday 18th October before heading over to Laura’s exhibition @bridportarts . We have contemporary editions and printed ephemera by leading international contemporary artists and will curate a collection of material for the session. Please go to MTP insta or website to sign up. Historically rural reading rooms were philanthropic institutions providing free access to reading materials such as newspapers, magazines, and books that were not easy to access due to social class, gender, and funding - as alternative to pubs and a means of moral improvement. Free reading is a self-directed practice, often used in schools, where readers choose their own texts and engage with them openly, without set interpretation or instruction. Free Reading is part of the associated events programme for From and To… an evolving exhibition by Laura Eldret at Bridport Arts Centre, exploring ideas of creativity, freedoms, and collaboration.
