❤️‍🔥📢 More from the women who, for the last four years, have taken to the streets in El Salvador to denounce Bukele’s State of Exception. In March of 2022, following a deadly weekend of gang murders that left dozens of civilians brutally killed throughout the country, the Bukele government suspended basic constitutional rights nationwide, which has lead to the indiscriminate imprisonment of tens of thousands of Salvadorans without evidence presented against them and without trials. According to human rights groups in the country, there have been at least five hundred confirmed deaths due to the overcrowding, violence, torture and medical neglect inside the prisons - all of the confirmed deaths are of prisoners awaiting trial and human rights groups report the vast majority had no ties to gangs. The number of deaths is believed to be much higher, however the Bukele government has placed a vast amount of public information under reserve. ⚖️ As mass trials begin in the country, the Movement of Victims of the Regime @movirsv continue to denounce a lack of access to legal defense for their loved ones, lack of access to information about their cases, and an denial of their rights to prove their innocence. 📢 This Mother’s Day, they have also denounced increased harassment, intimidation, and attempts to criminalize their organizing efforts in defense of their innocent loved ones who have been unjustly jailed. 👀 Check out a livestream of yesterday’s protest outside of the public defender’s office at bit.ly/movir513 ➡️ For updates on this series of mothers with protest signs and clickable source links visit: Canva.link/movirmothers

This morning, after several weeks of activities to prepare for a historic May Day march in San Salvador, news is coming in of intensified police and military check points throughout the country as organized Salvadorans make their way to the capital to protest the Bukele regime’s attacks against workers, the environment and call for an end to the unconstitutional State of Exception. Check out these excerpts from our most recent blog (available at CISPES.org) to learn more about what the popular movement in El Salvador is demanding and taking to the streets for despite widespread political persecution and criminalization of protest and dissent. #EyesOnElSalvadorMay1 #EyesOnElSalvadorMayDay

FROM EL SALVADOR TO LOS ANGELES Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026 Time: 5:00-7:00 PM Location: All Power Books - 4749 W. Adams Blvd. Los Angeles, 90016 “This presentation brings together CISPES and NOlympics LA to discuss the transnational connections between mega-event fueled policing in El Salvador and Los Angeles that endanger immigrant and Salvadoran communities. As the Bukele regime continues to prop El Salvador up for sale, such as hosting the Miss Universe Pageant and the Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe, the government relies on the State of Exception to criminalize, surveil, and incarcerate Salvadorans. Similarly in Los Angeles, the upcoming 2026 World Cup and 2028 Olympic Games rely on the collaboration between local and federal policing structures - LAPD, LASD, ICE, FBI, etc. - to ensure the capitalist success of these mega-events at the expense of Central American migrant communities. Anchored in transnational solidarity, we share this information to challenge the assertion that these mega-events benefit host communities in anyway. Collectively, we hope to reimagine notions of safety and sports celebration across Central American communities.”

Thank you for taking action during our week of action to demand answers for the Salvadoran deportees who remain unjustly jailed or disappeared after being sent to CECOT without due process along with hundreds of Venezuelans last March and April! Our week of action marked 4 years of the State of Exception and was part of growing international condemnation of the widespread human rights violations under the Bukele regime that likely amount to crimes against humanity and also deeply impact Salvadoran immigrants deported from the U.S. Scroll through for the list of Congressional signers. Let’s keep up the pressure and demand justice for Salvadoran and all immigrants! @repshrithanedar @repmaxwellfrost @replsimon @janschakowsky @repchuygarcia @repjuanvargas @reprokhanna @repglennivey @repjackson @repstephenlynch @repdexteror @repmoulton @repdesaulnier @repseancasten
