Oversight Dems have led the fight to release the Epstein files for months. Don’t let Republicans’ recent attempts at “transparency” fool you. They’ve tried to water this down every step of the way.
@replsimon and Oversight Dems are here. We’re standing with the survivors and fighting for the justice they have been denied for far too long.
My office is here to help with immigration casework for constituents with open immigration cases. Link in the bio to our resources page ⬅️
Make sure you, your family, and neighbors know your rights in the event of an encounter with an ICE agent or another immigration enforcement agency.
Today I proposed two amendments to the Republican budget reconciliation bill to 1) protect access to reproductive health care and 2) protect our federal workforce and SNAP.
Republicans tried to sneak this bill through the Rules Committee in the dead of the night. But we won’t let them get away with this, Dems have been here since 1am holding up the bill and fighting back.
We are now on Day 77 of Trump’s illegal and inhumane war. He is endangering the lives of civilians, shattering every global alliance we have built, and raising costs for Americans with a $29 billion dollar war.
California’s 12th District has consistently stood against unchecked military spending – while people do not have health care, food, or a roof over their heads. I will not support or give a dime to the President’s senseless war in Iran. I am calling on this Congress to remember what we are meant to be.
Since the start of 2026, I have delivered over $142 million in federal funding for our district. This funding will support our communities and build on the vibrancy of the district.
I will continue fighting to bring home federal funding for our organizations and institutions in the East Bay, so they can keep their doors open and continue to serve our neighbors.
Building a more connected, resilient East Bay 🌉
We are honored to announce that Congresswoman Lateefah Simon @replsimon will be providing opening remarks at Move Bay Area EAST: Connecting the Bay on May 29th!
Representing the heart of the East Bay, from Oakland to Berkeley and beyond, Congresswoman Simon brings over 30 years of experience in advocacy and leadership to our stage. As a Deputy Whip for Policy and a champion for housing affordability, climate resilience, and transit equity, her vision is vital to our conversation on "Connecting the Bay."
Join us for a day of collaboration as we discuss the future of our region’s infrastructure and community health. Reserve your seat today!
The Supreme Court’s gutting of Article II of the Voting Rights Act is an attack on Black communities across this nation. It is an attempt to silence our vote, redraw the nation, and reconstruct our reality by clawing back our hard-won rights.
My grandmother, Darnella Cavaness, lived the reality of segregation, poll taxes, and voter suppression - and she taught me, as so many others taught their grandchildren, nieces, nephews, students - how to do the work. We walk with the wisdom and power of all those who came before us. No president, no nation, no racist majority can deny us full participation in a democracy that we built. Our fight continues.
Our district is a beautiful tapestry of languages, cultures, and communities. An important part of our diverse district is our thriving small business community.
To wrap up small business week in the district, I visited and held a roundtable with a few minority-owned small business owners from the Yemeni community in Temescal to hear about the unique challenges minority-owned small businesses face, to hear about their innovative ideas, and to try some delicious food!
It was incredible to join the Construction Trades Workforce Initiative and local leaders to celebrate and organize on May Day.
Organized labor is integral to our economy, democracy, and history. In Congress, I am committed to protecting the right to organize and advancing labor protections in CA-12 and across the country.
I want to hear from YOU and share how I’ve been working for the East Bay in Congress - join me for a town hall May 27th at 6:00 PM in Berkeley.
Please RSVP at the link in our bio or visit simon.house.gov/RSVP to receive location information and arrival instructions. See you soon!
Happy Mother’s Day! Love and flowers to my mother, late grandmother, older daughter who is a mom herself now — and all the mothers and mother figures who make our lives go round 💐
The health of our communities is directly linked to our environments, which is why I am so proud to present over $1 million dollars in federal Community Project Funding to the City of San Leandro for clean water infrastructure and new recreation opportunities for local residents.
Everyone deserves clean water, air, and beautiful outdoor spaces close to home. I am excited to see how this project opens new spaces for community, recreation, and culture to thrive.
