We are thrilled to announce that our House in the Lanes project won an ARCHI Award from the AIA Long Island chapter this year.
The process of designing this net positive house in Amagansett, NY brought our small, four person office a great deal of joy and fulfillment.
We were entrusted with the design of the house, interiors, furniture, and furnishings. A rare comprehensive opportunity and gratifying creative endeavor from a wonderfully unique client.
We can’t say enough great things about our collaborators and look forward to future work on Long Island.
Thank you @aialongisland for the recognition!

Designing stairs can be challenging in many ways, but we try to make them a feature to be proud of in our projects. Whether in historical townhomes or modern ground up houses stairs present perfect opportunities to showcase precise, elegant details. And they also allow us to introduce a little drama into spaces with great natural light and fun decorative fixtures.

House in Michigan, 2023 - revisiting this house as we start another exciting project in Michigan. This will be our fourth job in the state and at this rate we're going to have to get a little more creative with our project names!

Building a new house generally means digging a hole and filling it in. At the House in the Lanes in Amagansett we decided to leave part of the excavation in place as a ‘moat’ along the south side of the house. Along with providing a dramatic entry (over a bridge), the moat brings diffuse southern sunlight to a below ground family room. The concrete retaining wall slips from the exterior to a cozy space inside.

At a townhouse we designed in Brooklyn Heights, walnut planks carry the eye up into an unexpected double height space, then wrap down onto the adjacent living room ceiling. The wood ceiling, along with an original Greek Revival fireplace surround, makes a welcoming place to gather.

At our recently completed beach house in Amagansett, all spaces are carefully programmed to get the most out of a compact envelope. A study is tucked into a stair landing that opens onto a roof terrace. A unified material language of bleached white oak keeps the atmosphere calm and allows the sculptural shapes and the beautiful daylight to be primary.
