Lesser Mysteries at Opus 40 | May 1st at 6pm
We’re honored to share that this spring’s Lesser Mysteries will culminate within Harvey Fite’s monumental stone earthwork at @officialOpus40 for an evening of improvised music and shared ritual.
We can’t think of a more resonant place to explore the questions at the heart of Lesser Mysteries.
What is beginning?
What wants to be born through us?
What are we dreaming into being?
The gathering will feature a living score performed by members of Moonraker — whose last concert was more than two decades ago (!!!) — alongside Hudson Valley duo @miyaxx___ and a constellation of regional artists.
Join us beneath the Full Flower Moon to practice the art of bringing the unseen into form — remembering that the world our hearts know is possible begins in community.
Registration opens Monday 3/23 for the greater.mysteries mailing list and Opus 40 members
Public registration opens Friday 3/27
Sign up for early access. Link in bio.
Amidst all the chaos & heartbreak in the world, releasing an album right now feels like blowing an air kiss into a tornado.
But I believe in the power of music—and in the power of shared transformation. Through this project I’ve learned to trust the cycle: where endings become beginnings, and something new is ready to emerge
Greater Mysteries is finally here. It’s a prayer, an invitation, a collaboration with many incredible artists, landscapes, and unseen forces.
If the music moves you, I’d be so grateful if you would: ✨ Purchase the album on Bandcamp ✨ Share it with someone who needs it ✨ Join us in the cave this fall
Thank you for listening.
With love & reverence, Kelli

Feeling deeply grateful to be one of the stewards of @greater.mysteries
What began as an album continues to unfold into something far greater than any one person could create alone.
Still processing all that moved through Lesser Mysteries this spring, and in awe of the artists, collaborators, volunteers, and participants who brought their full hearts to this cycle. Thank you for helping shape what this project is becoming.
So much more to come.

Thank you for joining us for Lesser Mysteries at @officialopus40
To meet beneath the Full Moon in Harvey Fite’s extraordinary stone landscape, to move from forest to field, from silence into sound, from separation into shared experience… this is something we could only create together. It felt like returning to something ancient, and also something entirely of this moment.
Lesser Mysteries is part of an ongoing experiment, bringing together music, ritual, land, myth, and community as a living practice. This work was made possible by the dozens of artists who offered their time, energy, and care. What you experienced was held by a wide circle of collaborators, each bringing their devotion to the whole. Together we are asking: what do we need to carry forward from this moment?
As @drcsvehla so beautifully named at the close of the procession:
“We’re getting a masterclass right now in the transformation cycle. And that means being alive right now is really hard, but it also means we have an extraordinary opportunity to create something beautiful and to nurture big dreams.”
We’ll be taking some time to allow what was shared to metabolize and to listen for what wants to take form next. We’ll share more as it becomes clear, but for now, we invite you to hold a place in your calendar: @greater.mysteries will return in the last two weeks of September.
With gratitude for your presence and participation,
The Greater Mysteries Team

Much gratitude to @hv_ny for this Q+A with Greater Mysteries artist/composer @kelliscarr
After a long, snowy winter and less than spring-like temperatures last week, the sun is starting to feel a bit warmer today, the hummingbirds are making their return and the viburnum outside my office window is now in full bloom, its aroma an overwhelming welcome with the slightest gust of wind.
“It’s the season of emergence. Of noticing what is beginning, and what wants to be born through us,” says Hudson Valley-based artist and composer Kelli Scarr.
After two sold-out performances at the Widow Jane Mine last fall, Scarr calls spring “the perfect container” to explore the collective reemergence, and has been offering events throughout the early weeks of the season to offer ways to reconnect and reorient ourselves through ritual, music and shared experiences. The spring-fed event series, Lesser Mysteries, shaped by Scarr in collaboration with mythologist Dr. Catherine Svehla and ritualist Mary Evelyn Pritchard, will culminate under the Full Moon at Opus 40 on Friday night, as Scarr creates a living score with Moonraker, who hasn’t performed in concert in over two decades.
“It’s not about delivering a message,” Scarr says. “It’s about opening a field. If someone leaves with even a slightly clearer sense of their place within what’s unfolding, that feels important.”

Step inside the creative process as a living score begins to take shape at @tempokingston this Thursday, April 30th.
@greater.mysteries invites a small audience into the rehearsal room for an open session with members of the band Moonraker, whose last concert took place more than two decades ago. This intimate gathering offers a rare glimpse into the collaborative practice that underlies the Greater Mysteries project.
Part rehearsal, part listening ritual, the evening allows participants to witness the early stages of musical emergence—when fragments, improvisations, and shared intuition begin to form the seeds of a performance.
These musical ideas will continue to evolve and ultimately bloom the following night at @opus40official , where the ensemble will perform a fully realized improvised living score within Harvey Fite’s monumental stone landscape.
For those curious about how music grows, from first impulse to collective expression, this offering opens the door to the quiet, generative moment before the threshold is crossed.
Please register in advance so we can prepare the space. Donations will be gratefully accepted at the door.
This is your last call.

What is Lesser Mysteries at @officialopus40 ?
An immersive, site-responsive gathering of music, myth, and communal ritual.
The evening unfolds as a processional journey. We begin in quiet, attuning to the forest, then arrive within the earthwork for a shared passage, a former site of extraction transformed by hand over 40 years into a mythic place of creation.
Guided by a living, improvised musical score performed by @kelliscarr , members of Moonraker (reuniting after more than two decades), alongside @miyaxx___ and a constellation of regional artists, the evening is shaped by the land and those gathered.
As the Full Moon begins to rise, something starts to gather. What awaits is held for those who arrive...
Registration is open and space is limited.
