I’ve been working on this project for the last 8 months alongside Metal; creating, connecting and bringing communities together to share their stories and love for the city of Peterborough. This project has been so rewarding and special to me. A self discovering journey that has taught me so much and I am glad to share my vision through photography.
@metalpeterborough and Joel Rodriguez invite you to a special launch for Positive Notes, a new public art trail sharing uplifting stories of Peterborough, on:
Saturday 14 February from 12pm at Unit 26 in
@queensgate_pb
The Positive Notes artworks form a love letter to Peterborough, a vibrant series of photo tiles, by artist Joel Rodriguez, showcasing stories of the city. They feature the revival of Carnival in Peterborough after 40 years, and the personal story of someone who sought refuge in the city and has blossomed as a community leader.
Joel Rodriguez connected with young people aged 13 - 25 from Culture Community’s Saturday School and Crofts Corner youth group in Bretton. The artworks created by Joel Rodriguez involve the stories and artworks from young people made at photography and collage workshops. During these workshops they shared and discovered stories of amazing people, places, and events in Peterborough that have been overlooked, the artworks celebrate the stories that give the city its unique vibe.
