NEW SHOW 🎉 Dutch composer and pianist @joepbeving brings the Liminal Tour to Ottawa đŸ’„ Sat Oct 17 @bronsoncentremusictheatre đŸŽŸïž on sale now at spectrasonic.com and @vertigoottawa Joep Beving’s new album Liminal, out now on Deutsche Grammophon, is a search for renewal. Over the span of 15 pieces, Joep contemplates a relationship with the world in which we listen to nature, move with it, and let it speak through art. In that sense, composing becomes less about control and more about tuning in, about finding harmony between human intention and the larger forces of life. With unique compositions like “Elysium”, “ “When humans do algorhythms” and “Wild Renaissance” ”, Joep invites the listener into that rush of possibility: sounds that embrace the luminous and the fantastical, and take refuge in slower spells of deep contemplation of our place in the universe. Sources of inspiration came in the form of *Wild Renaissance* by Guillaume LogĂ© – a book recommended to Joep by Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen. An exhibition by French artist Pierre Huyghe, which Joep visited in Seoul, became another spark. Liminal became in many ways a dance, one teetering between intent and intuition.

The last video of this serie. Arcadia is out now Arcadia is one of my personal favourites from the new album. For me it’s the composition where the album truly begins. The first four to me feel like meandering, not in a restless way, but it is with Arcadia that I finally find the space and pace of the album. X Joep . . . @joepbeving has built a reputation as a composer of music that resides in the in-between. On his latest project ‘Liminal’, that instinct is pushed further, moving between structure and letting go, between a sense of calm and something more unsettled - constant movement. Over two days, from a private listening session to time spent in his Amsterdam studio, we traced that tension back to its source, in conversation with Beving himselfđŸ«†

The music is available on all digital streaming platforms and cd. As of today the album is also available on vinyl. I should note that it is the first ever Deutsche Grammophon release on eco-vinyl, made from recycled PET plastics. I want to thank everyone involved in the making of this album and especially: Barbera van Rest, Martijn Meeske, Eva Roëll, Debbie Clare, Joris van Welsen, Christian Badzura, Iris van Herpen, Marieke Meulendijks, Marc Wesseling, Ivan Cremer, Sacha de Boer, Peter van Langen, Maria Triana, Roel Verberk, Anton Pieëte, Eelco Bakker. Thanks to Pierre Huyghe and Guillaume Logé for the inspiration. Thanks to my label Deutsche Grammophon. Lastly thanks to you for your support and gift of attention!
