Is it fair to say we are all just a product of our time? If so, these are pretty wild times, so I’m a little afraid to find out what the product is.. there’s gotta be something else there.. maybe we’re not just meant to be a product of the times but also meant to be writing the rules to shape the times toward what we think they ought to be…? When @ghostship and I wrote The Elephant in the Room, we were thinking about how much our ancestors tend to affect our life choices. know anyone thats making an active choice based on a fear of what a family member or relative might think? Maybe it’s the decision to stay close to home. Or maybe it’s a choice to keep their love life in the closet and live a lie; to hide who they really are out of a fear of rejection from those that they love the most. Of course, making any choice out of fear is an unhealthy habit. Horror is storytelling centered around fear, so we set out to tell a story about fear and horror, but also love and how those things all get bundled together in a big mess when it comes to family. Call it a curse, call it oppression, call it what you want, but it’s fear. And the only antidote to fear is empathy. FUGUES is still growing. Nearly 40k subscribed, 2.3 million views. I built a TV show with my own money, my own friends, and without waiting for a yes from any Hollywood company. Why would I do that? idk I guess I wanted to prove to myself that it was possible BUT in doing that, I accidentally created a TV channel called @publicaccesslimited . Oops. FUGUES was initially for me, but PAL is for you guys… 📣 if you are an artist, filmmaker, performer, comedian, puppeteer a fking magician or a circus side show freak….whoever you are, if you have a weird idea and a voice and you want it amplified, bring it over to PAL. Just thinking aloud while making things, this time hand developing 16mm in my bathtub.. Publicly sharing my notes and a look into my process has always felt hard for some reason, but it feels more important than ever to let go of that. This is my exposure therapy.
