It’s funny that we’re in an age of nostalgia that isn’t all that long ago. It used to be “analog” vs “digital” but that’s changed. “Old” digital is now vintage. Old point and shoot cameras, even old cell phones, give an authentic feel that new phones and cameras do not. Remembering what Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, LinkedIn all used to be like before they morphed into the tech machine. It’s no longer “remember the good ol days when people would write handwritten notes to each other”, it’s “remember the good ol days when people would write a tweet and not be inundated with bots and AI responses”. Nostalgia evolves. It’s just weird to be nostagic about digital and internet even just a few years ago.
RIP Maximus the Berner. The joy you brought this family was life-giving and healing, a consistent unrelenting love when we needed it most. Gone far too soon. Rest well 🕊️

Today is my birthday. It’s funny how the older you get, the emotions around getting older change drastically. As a kid, all you want to do is be the big kid. As an adult, it’s common to lie about your age. I more have the problem of simply just forgetting how old I am. Either way, I’m 35 today. Another year down, many to go. It really does feel like a whole lifetime is ahead, starting today. ChatGPT didn’t write this, I’m still human, the robots haven’t taken over yet — even if I use em-dashes every once in a while. I did however ask it “Today is my birthday. Bullet point 10 highlights from this year” and it actually gave me some pretty awesome detailed stuff. I was originally going to share them here, but they were all surprisingly personal lolz, sorry. Here’s to the next 35.

What happens when a government decides to test nuclear weapons? In 1958, four men decided to sail their boat directly into the test zone on protest exactly that. Now, in 2025, the nuclear debate is as heated as ever.
On Veterans Day, November 11, we will be releasing our documentary that has been years in the making, telling the story of those four in 1958 through the lens of a modern day adventure across the Pacific Ocean on the very same boat, resurrected from the deep. We are incredibly proud of this piece and hope it can be a source of impactful, policy-shaping, life-saving conversation.

I remember back in high school, I scheduled my SAT in a few months in advance for November 1. This was innocuous, felt irrelevant, it was just any other day. A couple of days before the test I realized something- November 1 was the day after Halloween. I stayed out late, because I wasn’t going to not because of some dumb exam, and got up wicked early to go to this test. I’ll never forget the scene, it’s whatever like 8 am, and there are 200 bleary-eyed high schoolers who probably all didn’t realize Nov 1 was the day after Halloween, just like I did, standing like zombies waiting to get into this forever long test. We probably all bombed, I know I did. I retook it the next time I could. November 1, forever immortalized. Don’t forget, Nov 1 is the day after Halloween.
It’s the day, the best day, the best day of the year. It’s October 20th, the day I first laid eyes on the love of my life. She walked into a house party at my house, and the earth stood still. The only way I can explain it is a gravitational pull. I am not one to approach someone, I am a “outskirts of the party” type guy. But there was something about this girl that made be bee-line through a crowd of people and ask her name. She said “Morgan,” I said “me too,” and the rest was history.
This picture you see here is the first time I saw her, I was taking pictures of all sorts of people, and I snapped this one before we ever spoke, in a loud sweaty room. It’s my favorite picture ever. Taken on October 20th.
