Toot toot 🎺 Hot on the heels of another amazing party with space•lab, Patrick Russell, Vardae and Rizla, we’re fresh back into it!
For our next edition we will relocate to The Island and are delighted to welcome DJ Red to Bristol for the first time!
As a longstanding resident at the legendary Goa Club in Rome and an essential figure in the growth of Italy’s techno sound over the last 20 years, Simona Calvani commands an unreal control of the dancefloor.
Directing the energy from meditative focus to hair raising twists & turns, Red possesses a unique skill in conducting between depth and directness. Having heard her Waking Life set from 2023 we’ve wanted to witness DJ Red’s all vinyl education on home soil for ages now so we’re gassed to host her indelible craft for our fifth outing.
Cool and deadly headwork, DJ Red will apply her technical prowess with an otherworldly ability to send it down the wormhole like no other!
Joining her we invite the unique style of LA native Negative Affect!
Negative Affect is the latest effort from Billy Garcia - founder of Counterpoint Records and a key figure in the LA underground for over a decade as the man behind DJ ANGELDU$T, surety and the much loved 138.
Billy combines the coruscating motion of future facing Hood/ Axis jack with an undiluted view to push beyond any linear or stylistic constraints, defying listener’s expectations whilst perennially enforcing a sound which pure bangs lads.
Billy will be DJing for us in his inimitable style - expect relentless energy and a view to lead you firmly by the ears down some of the most leggy tunes this side of a car factory.
Your resident Probes will top & tail proceedings - warming in and boiling over for what promises to be a really special one for any adventurous travellers looking for a proper probing.
We hope you can join us

AC Transmissions 009: Jay Galligan 🛰️
Earlier this year, a mutual friend @inn8media recommended that @jaygalligan get in touch with me about a 90s/00s electro mix he’d recorded at home and wished to find a suitable home for.
Having been unaware of how masterful a DJ Jay was prior to his message, I’m certainly aware now. His mix is one of my personal favourites in a long, long time and it’s an honour to release it as the 9th edition of AC Transmissions. Enjoy some sublime Sunday listening via the @aliencomms SoundCloud now. 🛸
Probe #2: successfully detonated 💥
What a night!! Big love to everyone who piled in and turned it into a proper scene. Rizla, @ariofarah & @marcoshuttle —they dragged us through wormholes of psychedelic rhythm, left the floor in a technicolour soup. ✨
Next probing adventure : the festive mayhem. A Christmas cracker with @blashaallatt plus our residents @jaygalligan & @rstangent , Dec 19th. Expect ⚒️⛓️🛰️📡
A spotlight on the one like Ario… One day, I was having a lovely afternoon with a mate and he was showing me some new tunes he’d unearthed from somewhere (as was the style at the time). He was particularly excitable about one in particular. Something about ‘The Abyss Within Us’. The record looked nuts - mad fractal and dotty artwork with conjoined faces intertwining and modulating…it looked how it sounded y’know? We lit something and listened to this mad album (supposedly recorded in a barn so it was…) and I haven’t been the same since tbh.
In many ways the man responsible for that particularly profound good time was Ario Farahani - chief proprietor of the astonishing effort that is the Astral Industries label and one half of Mystic AM alongside Rod Modell, not to mention one of the world’s most sought after purveyors of the ‘blunted amplified ambient good time’ (patent pending). Currently residing in London after a stint in Seoul but almost certainly hewn from the inside of some sort of rare speaking crystal, Ario’s musical output tends to revolve around highly effective drone and ambient tendencies. However for his good friends here at The Probe he has promised something a little different…
Expertly versed in the connective tissues that bind tone and rhythm, Ario’s dancefloor sets are a rarity but an absolute unmissable experience if you like your techno swooning, psychedelic and oozing with style.
Eschewing the often regurgitated and menial examples of something like ‘acid’ or dare I say it, ‘deep techno” (heavens…), Ario’s DJ sets percolate more like a restless bee who just wants to make honey. With a wealth of decades behind his label curation, Ario’s mixing brings to the fore a dedication to focussed and bolstered third eye exercises
Sweetness married with sting; pacing becomes a kinetic energy - bursts of blissful noise collide with constantly swirling drum speak and the astral journey shall continue 🧿
We can’t wait to have ye Ario!
