Acrylic, tape, pencil & timber 54x4x4cm I’ve occasionally made works which incorporate text. The text here uses two words from the Antonio Gramsci quote*, which seems much used recently. * ‘The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.’ (I read recently that he never actually wrote this. Apparently he wrote, ‘In questo interregno si verificano i fenomeni morbosi più svariati’, which translates as ‘In this interregnum a great variety of morbid symptoms appear.’ Either way it still seems about right! #nonobjectiveart #paintingnow #thelondongroup #artprocess #minimalism

Edge of Sight (Study) Acrylic on cardboard mounted on MDF, 21x30x1.9 I’ve lived in the Sussex Weald for over 3 decades and in so far as I’ve ever identified with anywhere it is West Sussex. The visual diversity of the journey over the Downs to the coast, which I’ve driven, cycled and walked over the years, is always compelling. My son grew up in the county and is fond of reminding me that the Sussex dialect has over 30 words for mud!
