#Opening 7 maggio, ore 18.00
Ingresso libero

Screens, embroideries, cables, and lights — the world of Like takes shape little by little, before you can step inside.
A new work by Nikima Jagudajev, in which the choreographic project Basically is reimagined through the language of video games. Moving between an interactive digital space and documentary materials, Like unfolds as a non-linear narrative rooted in the coming-of-age years — the ecstasy of agency, the horrors of self-consciousness, the grit and mania of navigating social expectations.
#Opening May 7th, 6 pm

Basically
22/03–27/04/2025
German Premiere 21/03/2025, 6–11 pm
Basically is ongoing, constantly changing depending on where it is performed, tried out, played and viewed. Basically is a performance but equally an exhibition, choreography, recording studio, sewing workshop, schoolyard and all it is yet to become. Basically allows us to discover the unexpected, make contact with the strange, paying attention to disorder. Basically resurrects extracurricular activities, offering an opportunity for “re-schooling.” Basically is played by all, constantly creating itself – from the interaction of gallery visitors and three on-site performers. Basically is fluid and ephemeral.
With Matti Aikio, Samuel Baidoo, Matilda Cobanli, Yoh Morishita, Maria Muehombo (MIMI), Salomon Leonard Poutsma, Laura Stellacci, Lester St. Louis, Louise Trueheart, Emmanuel Edoror and Lucas Lopes Pereira
The Westfälischer Kunstverein will present artist and choreographer Nikima Jagudajev’s first institutional solo exhibition in Germany from 22 March to 27 April 2025. After stopping in Bergen, Zurich, Brussels, Vienna and more, the live project Basically (2020-ongoing) will finally celebrate its German premiere in Münster on 21 March 2025, showcasing significant new developments.

NIKIMA JAGUDAJEV: COSMOS UNDER CONSTRUCTION
„Basically“ at mumok Vienna by Nikima Jagudajev @imtwelve is the largest iteration of itself yet — a universe installed under a starscape 9 meters high, featuring characters like The Dealer, Seam Ripper, and Conduit. Jagudajev and Louise Trueheart, who made friends in college and have worked together ever since, discuss Jagudajev’s megawork, reflecting on the details that hold the interdisciplinary superstructure of „Basically“ together. From David Graeber’s „Bullshit Jobs“ to Gordon Calleja’s critique of the boundary between games and real life, Jagudajev shares their artistic practice of continuous involvement and care for a fantasy world much like our own.
