📢 Films announcement 📢 DCD’s Inspiration Evening at Swindon Dance, as part of The Jam Festival, will include screenings of two incredible dance films. 🎞️ Secrets of the Treaties by House of Absolute 🎞️ House of Absolute are a collective of multidisciplinary artists, specialising in the dance styles of waacking, contemporary, hip hop, locking, krump and popping. This short film aims to uplift the voices of womxn and marginalized genders in telling stories of a shared oppression, displacement and struggle whilst finding ourselves in a world that so often leaves us ‘Othered’. Created and conceived by House of Absolute, co-produced and commissioned by Philharmonia Orchestra and Sadler’s Wells Digital Stage. 🎞️ Disruption by O’Driscoll Collective 🎞️ Disruption is a cross-art collaboration between four West-Midlands based creatives, exploring themes related to the black male identity and toxic masculinity. The piece is informed by a five-month period of research including interviews with renowned black creatives from Birmingham and London. Disruption features bespoke Rocking choreography set to brand new poetry, set in distinctive sites across Birmingham. Commissioned by HomeGrown31, with support from Creative Academies Network, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and Arts Council England. 📅 Tuesday 2 April, 7-10pm 📍 Swindon Dance 🎟️ Via Swindon Dance 🆓 Free to attend.
