short moment from the @piketprijs portret video. Kinda brushed over winning my first award for dance. I didn’t know how to celebrate this really. Part of me still doesn’t. Maybe because internally it doesn’t always fully feel right to hold personal joy when the world is crying and I wish to celebrate glimpses of collective hope instead. I’m constantly learning to find comfort in how contradictory life can be. I am very proud though. Proud of myself and of my people for being seen, recognised and celebrated. To taking up more space in 2026.

It feels like a quiet act of rebellion each time I make space to listen to the whispers beneath my skin and in my bones. Acknowledging all the stories of growth and becoming I carry in this twenty-something body. Every small change is a reminder that I am still searching, still moving, still alive. And when I soften into this truth, I also begin to hear those whispers of others’ bodies. In a world that often feels too loud, listening patiently feels like love. 📽️ @trashdollys

𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐣𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 Dit zijn de genomineerden van de Innovatieprijs Nederlandse Dansdagen Maastricht 2026: 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘦 𝘎𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘩𝘢𝘯 @chandenieg - een in Londen gevestigde kunstenaar die Bharatnatyam, locking en hedendaagse dans mixt tot een intiem en krachtig geheel dat je met een nieuwe blik laat kijken. 𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘗𝘦𝘭𝘶𝘱𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘺 @cheroneypelupessy - een danseres en maker die haar Molukse, Indonesische en Nederlandse wortels vertaalt naar een eigen bewegingstaal vol persoonlijke verhalen en culturele identiteit. 𝘔𝘦𝘭𝘺𝘯 𝘊𝘩𝘰𝘸 @mchowow - een Singaporese choreograaf en theatermaker die via mime, dans en video onderzoekt hoe persoonlijke thema’s als sensualiteit en schaamte kunnen veranderen in kracht en verzet. De drie genomineerden zullen binnenkort hun idee voor een nieuw project aan de jury pitchen. De choreograaf met het beste, meest innovatieve idee gaat met de prijs naar huis en kan aan de slag met het creëren van een nieuw werk. De winnaar wordt op 2 oktober bekend gemaakt tijdens het Nederlandse Dansdagen Gala in Theater aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht.
