Centre 151
151 Whiston Road
London
E2 8GU
Free (donations welcomed)
No need to register “Deep Listening, as developed by Pauline Oliveros, explores the difference between the involuntary nature of hearing and the conscious nature of listening. The practice includes bodywork, sonic meditations, and interactive performance, as well as listening to the sounds of daily life, nature, one’s own thoughts, imagination, and dreams. It cultivates a heightened awareness of the sonic environment, both external and internal, and promotes experimentation, improvisation, collaboration, playfulness, and other creative skills vital to personal and community growth.” Center for Deep Listening
Artur M. Vidal is a London-based and Spanish-born saxophone player who grew up in Paris where he studied music, philosophy, and history of Art. This is an appreciation post for the best place to rehearse in London @centre151 - if you haven't, check them out! We love rehearsing there because their spaces are clean, light filled, and it just feels like you can feel the residue of the different creative communities that have been there. Also, they have a peaceful garden and teahouse at the back for breaktimes and pho club on Wednesdays and Saturdays! Thank you Pierre and Juan for fostering such a lovely space for artists 🌞🌞🌞

In 1950s South Korea, Female Gukgeuk, a form of musical theatre in which women played male roles, enjoyed a golden age. Scrutinising cultural tensions relating to gender performance, manliness, and disguise, The Girl Princes is a documentary that follows some of these legendary actors as they reminisce about their shared history.
Friday May 8, 19:00 at @centre151 , followed by an informal community discussion and gathering with snacks and drinks. #PayWhatYouCan
We visited Nhu Xuan Hua: Of Walking on Fire at Autograph and we highly recommend it!
16 April - 19 September 2026
Free entry
Working at the intersection of art and fashion photography, Nhu Xuan Hua reflects on the fragility of how stories are communicated – or withheld – across generations.
Rooted in language’s inability to fully convey complex family histories, Hua reimagines archival photographs from her family’s time in Vietnam and their early years in Europe. These uncanny, dreamlike compositions echo how memory within the diaspora can splinter, blur and slip from view. Of Walking on Fire considers how the past continues to reverberate into the future – and how silence can persist, even in moments of gathering and togetherness.

Calling all crybabies! 🥹🥹🥹

We are excited and proud to say that New Contemporaries Live this Saturday 11 April, 2-5pm at South London Gallery is now sold out!
New Contemporaries Live is a dynamic programme of live works featuring Will Pham and The VLC Band alongside other artists including Alia Gargum, Makiko Harris and Christopher Steenson.
Will Pham with The VLC Band:
Pham is a British-Vietnamese artist exploring themes of intergenerational care, displacement and the Vietnamese resettlement experience to the UK. His approach often begins with archival research blending with his own personal memory, to reactivate a sensorial and bodily relation to memory, history and place-making.
The VLC Band are a troupe of musicians primarily from Vietnam, led by Mr Lai. They are based at Centre 151, a Hackney-based community centre set up in 1985, formerly known as the Community Centre for Refugees from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia (VLC). The band members include Dan Tran, Doc Ngo, Thanh Long, Frankie, Hung, Hùng, Quang, Ngọc Nga, Quyen and with special guests including Duy Khiem.
