Peel Health Campus Redevelopment Forward Works. Hera Engineering is providing civil engineering design and construction support for the Peel Health Campus forward works in Mandurah. The new, purpose-built hospital, located next to the existing Peel Health Campus, will significantly expand services to meet the growing healthcare demands of the community. Hera’s involvement includes new internal roads and car parks, substation interface works, and coordination of ring main service installations within an operational hospital environment. The project involves navigating significant site constraints, including native vegetation clearing requirements, black cockatoo habitat tree protection obligations, and flood risk management due to the campus location within the wider catchment. A key focus is developing compliant, cost-effective, and constructable solutions that integrate new infrastructure with minimal disruption to existing hospital operations. Delivery of forward works is being progressed with @devlynconstruction Construction under a Design & Construct model, alongside active collaboration with the Office of Major Infrastructure Delivery within the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (formerly the Department of Finance) to address the site constraints and the complex stormwater drainage requirements. Claytons Mindarie Beachfront moves closer to completion. Construction on this exciting landmark coastal development, located directly on the doorstep of Claytons Beach in Perth’s northern corridor, has entered final stages, with the remaining residences and shared amenity spaces rapidly taking shape. More than 80% of apartments are now sold with only a limited number of residences remaining. Hera Engineering’s involvement in this prominent coastal residential project focused on delivering structural solutions appropriate to a beachfront environment, where durability and long-term performance were central design considerations. The variation in apartment layouts across multiple levels required close coordination with Hillam Architects to minimise the need for transfer structures. This strategy supported a more efficient construction methodology while remaining aligned with the architectural intent. Through a consistent focus on technical accuracy, coordination, and buildability, Hera has supported a project that responds effectively to its coastal context. Structural Engineering for a High-Density Student Precinct. Hera Engineering is delivering structural engineering for the new student accommodation precinct at the @universitywa Nedlands site. The development comprises 14 storeys and will house 847 beds across 671 apartments, supporting UWA's strategy to expand on-campus housing options. The structural design accommodates a high-density residential model with repeated layouts and consistent vertical load paths to optimise constructability and sustainability through minimisation of materials and associated embedded carbon. We are proud to share Hera Engineering’s involvement in the revised Perth Girls School redevelopment plan led by ADC. Hera is providing civil and structural engineering services to support the delivery of this significant precinct that will revitalise one of East Perth’s most iconic sites. Working within a heritage context brings unique constraints. Integrating two new towers into an existing heritage precinct requires careful coordination, build-ability focus, and thoughtful structural solutions. In close collaboration with MJA and the client team, we resolved the complex structural challenges arriving at a leaner scheme that is faster to construct and designed to reduce the permanent carbon footprint. The new Sydney Fish Market officially opens! 🎉 Congratulations to everyone involved in delivering this iconic waterfront destination and the largest fish market in the Southern Hemisphere. Designed by internationally acclaimed Danish architects 3XN/GXN, in collaboration with BVN and Aspect Studios, and built by Multiplex, the new market showcases architectural excellence — introducing state-of-the-art facilities, expanded retail, dining and cultural offerings — while preserving the authentic seafood market experience. Hera’s involvement commenced during the tender phase, supporting subcontractors and builders with construction engineering assistance and alternative design solutions. During the project we worked closely with the piling subcontractor for the design and verification of the water retention system used to construct the basement levels to ensure compliance with the strict project requirements. We rounded out 2025 with news from Multiplex that @thegroveresidences had won the Cbus National High Rise Apartment Building Award at the Master Builders National Excellence Awards 🎉 Hera’s involvement in The Grove showcased our expertise in structural engineering, post-tension design, and temporary works, contributing significantly to the project’s success. A key innovation brought by Hera Engineering to this project was the elimination of transfer slabs, which was made possible through early engagement and intelligent coordination with project architects, @mjastudio 👉 This strategic move resulted in substantial cost savings and a more sustainable structure through the minimisation of permanently embedded carbon. We are excited to announce that we have been appointed as the lead Structural Engineers for the long awaited major supermarket development in Nedlands. Woolworths is planning for a shopping centre and gym complex at the Captain Stirling Hotel site on Stirling Highway. As well as the Woolworths supermarket, the development is set to include a medical centre, cafe or restaurant, a gym and office space all the while preserving the Captain Stirling Hotel. This development will be a revamp of the community space with a number of amenities to benefit the public and economy. Check out these amazing images taken at the redevelopment of the Sydney Fish Market! Hera Engineering's involvement started during the tender phase, helping sub-contractors and builders with construction engineering assistance and alternative solutions. The $750 million project, designed by Danish Architects 3XN, will be a unique milestone in Australian culture and will display an iconic design with a broad sustainability focus. Multiplex have announced the successful completion of dewatering the cofferdam which took extensive planning preparation where they safely pumped approximately 100 million litres of water which is said to be equivalent to 40 Olympic swimming pools! Creating this dry space has allowed Multiplex to commence the main foundation of the project by establishing the framework for the future concrete structure and start the installation of the third tower crane. Great progress by all involved! The team at Hera have been enjoying working on this complex structural system and the bespoke temporary works solutions to ensure that it is safe but, at the same time, cost effective for our clients. The Royal George Hotel in East Fremantle is set to spring back to life with the incredible redevelopment plans set in motion. A much-loved local icon, The Royal George will be undergoing an exterior refurbishment of the heritage building with a future release of 20 stunning apartments designed by award winning architects, Spaceagency. Hera Engineering has been appointed to design the heritage structural upgrades to meet with current codes and design of the new extensions to the hotel as well as working on the main residential building. Hera's wealth of experience in heritage design includes a deep understanding with heritage components allowing us to take a practial approach to adapting new materials to existing structures. We are looking forward to sharing the journey of this project and it's positive impact on the social and economic vitality of the East Freo precinct. Hera Engineering is excited to announce that we have been appointed the lead Structural Engineers for the 240 Margaret Street Student Accommodation in Brisbane. According to Cox Architecture, the project is set to "inject a high density accommodation offering into this burgeoning precinct of the city." Developed by Citiplan and Brookfield, the tower will be 31-storeys reaching a height of 115m. The tower will accommodate a range of common facilities including a gym, a study, a library, a cinema, as well as games area with roof-level recreation spaces complimented by several sky terraces. Hera is excited to be part of a project that is aiming to assist students in the current rental crisis in Brisbane, 240 Margaret Street will be a new and enhanced realm for ther public that will respectively respond to the economy and environment.
