Earlier this week, Printed Matter and the Marciano Art Foundation welcomed guests earlier this week to celebrate the return of the LA Art Book Fair alongside a special preview of 𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘥𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘢 𝘚𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘻 𝘍𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘬𝘦𝘴𝘴: 𝘕𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘺-𝘴𝘪𝘹 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥, now on view at MAF through July 18.
Curated by Hanneke Skerath and Douglas Fogle, the exhibition brings together over thirty new drawings alongside Magdalena Suarez Frimkess’s iconic ceramic sculptures, tracing the artist’s irreverent and deeply personal visual language across cartoons, mythology, ancient symbolism, and contemporary life.
The evening also marked first access to the exhibition’s limited-edition long sleeve t-shirt designed by Purtill Family Business in collaboration with @everybody.world .
Take a look at some highlights from the evening!

"Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind" is coming to The Broad!
On the occasion of the artist's first solo museum exhibition in Southern California, T Magazine revisits the enduring relevance of Yoko Ono’s practice alongside a broader legacy of feminist performance art that continues to resonate today.
First performed in 1965, "Cut Piece" invited audiences to participate in the gradual disrobing of the artist, implicating viewers in acts of vulnerability, power, and control. The work would go on to influence generations of artists, from Marina Abramović’s "Rhythm 0" (which similarly tested the limits of audience participation, to Ana Mendieta’s body-based works that merged identity, ritual, and the natural world. As conversations around gender, agency, and the body persist, these artists’ practices feel as prescient as ever.
"Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind" opens May 23, 2036 at The Broad in Los Angeles! See you there.

Last week, MoAD’s inaugural Spring Affair set the tone for what’s to come.
Held at The St. Regis San Francisco, the evening brought together leaders across the Bay Area’s cultural, philanthropic, and civic communities in support of the museum’s mission to center the art and artists of the African Diaspora. With nearly 200 guests in attendance, the event marked a meaningful moment of momentum and alignment for the institution.
The program moved fluidly between performance, conversation, and recognition, spotlighting the artists, partners, and organizations helping to shape MoAD’s present and future, including honorees Mildred Howard, SFMOMA, Crankstart Foundation, and Kaiser Permanente.
As both a celebration and a call forward, the Spring Affair affirmed MoAD’s role as a vital cultural platform where community, dialogue, and contemporary practice converge.
Here’s to the beginning of a new annual tradition!
