𝑺𝑬𝑩𝑨𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑨𝑵, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒. Curated by Klaus Biesenbach and Lisa Botti on the occasion of the 60th Biennale Arte. 8 hour duration. Palazzo Malipiero, Venezia. Five arrows pierced through my skin as i stand on a stone from Lido, rotating at 1 RPM while being caressed by four robot-mounted cameras, capturing my body in slow motion in video and 3D scans. Sugar syrup drips from the ceiling, melting my makeup and accumulating, gradually impairing movement. After eight hours, my mother comes and removes the arrows from my body. In an adjacent room, a ‘stolen’ relic — a 3D printed scale replica of one of Andrea Brustolon’s most (in)famous blackamoor ebony carvings, 3D scanned and reproduced without permission from Ca’ Rezzonico museum, across the grand canal. Created, directed and performed by Miles Greenberg Co-starring Phoebe Greenberg Curated by @klausbiesenbach and @lisa_botti_ Presented by @neuenationalgalerie and @museumberggruen in partnership with Gallerie Dell’Accademia Produced and supported by @villaeugenie and @botanical_agency Custom garments and supported by @cerruti1881 by @daniel.kearns , styled by @julieragolia Original soundtrack by @personaljjesus Soundsystem and additional support from KEF (@kef.global ) Makeup by @hugo_villard Hair by @mariagracia.__ Piercing by @lagangrene Robotics engineered by @aatb_ch Arrows engineered by @chrishabana Studio management @yellfreeman Thanks to additional support from Slobodan Randjelović and Jon L. In 2022, WORTHLESSSTUDIOS presented its first commissioned work, Fountain I, a seven-hour solo durational performance installation by Miles Greenberg, @miles.greenberg . In Fountain I, a lone figure stands atop a white plinth that floats over a large pond of blood. The figure’s chest and hands appear to be hemorrhaging profusely into the reservoir below.  Read more about Miles Greenberg’s work and Fountain I on our website at the link in our bio. 🔗

“Behind the door of pain there’s a lot of secrets.” Miles Greenberg’s work isn’t centered on pain, but what exists around it. What’s held, translated, and carried through the body.

So I had this crazy, 72hr-long dream last week that i jumped on a bus from Schiphol to The Hague, and walked into a room of portraits by @inezandvinoodh —two of the warmest people you’ll ever meet. There was Prince, Kate, McQueen, Ruscha, Anohni, and then…me(?). Moments later, @anohni materialized from under a shroud to sing Perfect Day, and we all bawled our eyes out profusely. I&V, Thank you for having me as part of your grand constellation—i’m humbled, grateful, and full of love. 🌌 Can Love Be A Photograph — now on view at @kunstmuseum.nl 🫶🏾🌹

🎬 In Regards du Louvre, performer and sculptor @miles.greenberg embodies Saint Sebastian, turning his own body into a sculpture within the Puget Courtyard of the museum, home to masterpieces of classical sculpture.
The film weaves a tension between flesh and marble, presence and ideal, inviting the viewer to reconsider the sculptural body.
A creation in resonance with the exhibition Copistes at Centre Pompidou-Metz, where one hundred contemporary artists revisit masterpieces from the @museelouvre .

A Grau Magazine Publication #3 — Winter 2025/2026 Cover 6/8: Miles Greenberg @miles.greenberg , born in 1997 in Montreal, Canada, is a sculptor and performance artist. His work includes elaborate productions, immersive environments, video pieces, and life-size sculptures, always with a strong focus on the body. His spaces are activated through multi-hour performances in which the body is staged as sculptural material, paying homage to the poetics of the human form, often through the lens of the African diaspora. These performances unfold live before an audience and form the foundation of both his video works and his sculptures. Miles Greenberg seeks to heighten the viewer’s sensitivity by inviting them into his ritualistic spaces. Through stillness, deceleration, and deconstruction, he aims to evoke emotions that can be sensed and interpreted, yet exist beyond language, circulating in and around the body. As part of the Reiffers Mentorship Program, Miles Greenberg and Daniel Buren each created an exhibition for Art Basel Paris 2025. Daniel Buren, the program’s mentor, designed a permanent in situ work titled La Façade aux Acacias, which entirely covers the façade of the Reiffers Initiatives Endowment Fund building at 30 Rue des Acacias in Paris’s 17th arrondissement. Miles Greenberg presents three new sculptures — Saint Michel terrassant le démon (Viorel), Persée tenant la tête de Méduse (Chinedu), and Saint Georges combattant le dragon (Grant) — among which a performance took place. His exhibition is titled Gods of Solaris, inspired by Stanisław Lem’s novel Solaris and Andrei Tarkovsky’s film adaptation. Sadly, Leif and I weren’t able to attend the opening of Miles Greenberg’s new exhibition in Paris. Instead, we caught up over Zoom as he prepared his fresh morning juice. (Interview on pp. 46 / English interview.) Pre-order now via the link in our bio or at graumagazin.com. Portraits by @anoukdlpns Across 256 pages, we speak with artists, filmmakers, composers, designers, curators, politicians, and editors-in-chief.
