🌟 Sharing / reposting from the official exhibition announcement — opening May 30 in Toronto 🌷🧶
I’m very happy to be part of material disobedience, a four-person exhibition curated by Madeline Collins (
@therealmaddiec ) at
@thelostandfound_to , with a panel discussion hosted by Harbourfront Centre Craft & Design at
@harbourfrontcentre
The exhibition brings together four selected artists — Théo Bignon (
@theo_bignon ), Molly JF Caldwell (
@mollyjfcaldwell ), Lux Gow-Habrich (
@lux.sparkledust ), and Hea R. Kim.
Rhinestones, beads, crystals, embroidery, textiles, and ceramics have all been variously perceived as symbols of “excessive” cultures or lifestyles, an association that has served to reinforce creative hierarchies and trivialize marginalized identities.
material disobedience is generously funded by
@canada.council ,
@ontarioartscouncil , and
@torontoartscouncil The panel discussion is hosted by Harbourfront Centre Craft & Design, and we would like to acknowledge the incredible support of
