Coming soon to our Window Gallery! Grace Boyd’s ‘Piles of Dirt’ Piles of Dirt is a gathering of vessels made in celebration of “being here”. The here may change, the place may not always be the same but there is always dirt beneath our feet, in our bones and bodies. These vessels show each and every finger mark it took to make them, not just as a marker of labor but as a memory of the body-to-body connection of maker and material. Boyd’s greater body of works is made in her relentless pursuit to connect person, place, and object and further redefine what those terms may mean in relation to her work.

Counting down to our exhibition opening this Saturday! a golden bowl Shazia Ahmad, Liz Bentley, Rohin Tayaraniyousefabadi, and Ulrike Veith April 18 - June 6 | 2026 Opening Reception: Saturday - April 18, 2025 | 1-3 PM At times a vessel and other times a sieve, a golden bowl reflects on acts of carrying memory. Artists Shazia Ahmad, Liz Bentley, Rozhin Tayaraniyousefabadi, and Ulrike Veith engage in conversations of becoming, forgetting, remembering, and reinventing to ponder, or at times, complicate the notion of home and transitional states of place. Through considerations of how memory transitions each artist considers the formation or holding of memory and how it can be tied to domestic space and object. By revisiting, abstracting, or grasping onto memory in both physical and ephemeral states the conversations between the artists’ work contextualizes home as a holder of memory or a sieve for nostalgia. The title borrowed from the poet Mary Oliver references the constructs of containing memory, a vessel of memory being ‘the golden bowl. Within the exhibition, ‘the golden bowl’ becomes synonymous to the shared acts of holding, creating, or placing memory.

Reminder that our Membership Residency proposal is open-submissions welcome! DEADLINE: MAY 1, 2026 Neutral Ground is thrilled to present our Membership Residency in the summer of 2026. The residency is designed as a source for artists and makers in the Neutral Ground’s membership to connect to artist-run culture in the prairie and have access to space and infrastructure to experiment, brainstorm, and develop new or continuing projects and ideas in their practice. For nine weeks, Neutral Ground will welcome two artists from our membership, transforming the main gallery to a work/studio space for selected artists. Selected artists are not expected to produce final works during this time, and the nature of this residency will largely be led by their own needs and preferences for the time and space. For more information and to submit your application, please check our website!

We are nearing the end of the work term with our all-star gallery intern Tianna Delorme. Neutral Ground has been incredibly fortunate work with Tianna as the Library and Gallery Coordinator in partnership with N’we Jinan. Tianna has accomplished so much in her time with us, from helping with installation, greeting visitors, drafting promotion, and the not so small feat of giving much needed tlc to Neutral Ground’s collection of publications, books, zines, etc. Over the past three months, Tianna has worked to organize and catalog our library. As Tianna wraps up her internship she has written a creative response to her work in the library – a thoughtful reflection on her engagement with printed ephemera and ongoing relationship to artist runs. You can read Tianna’s response at the link in our bio! NG would like to thank Tianna for her significant and caring contribution to our space and we wish her continued success as talented emerging artist and promising cultural worker! 🧸💖🫶🧸💖🫶🧸💖🫶 photo credit : Mihkwa Wolf
