Saturdays trip down memory lane.
A lot of my life is rooted in Food, Art and nostalgia.
I arrived to East London as a child immigrant. Initially, rejecting my Vietnamese heritage then slowing embracing my story when I became an Art student @unioftheartslondon - Fashion, Food and Art really made me brave and want to explore the world.
It was such a beautiful afternoon sharing this generational journey with my boy @museumofthehome and @vam_east he asked me lots of questions, which stirred a sense of joy and connection, because he is interested in me and our roots!
Of course, after we ate Pho and Banh cuon @vietgrill_ldn chatting about school, relationships and how life feels like in London & Vietnam.
So deeply grateful for moments like this ♥️

At Hanoi Ca Phe, founder Gina shares how her love of cooking was shaped by her Grandmother. ✨
Growing up, Gina learned by watching and cooking alongside her, and her recipes were passed down through time spent together in the kitchen.
Food became Gina’s way of holding onto her Grandmothers legacy and the lessons she shared.

In March, we celebrate Women’s History Month Through Food, Memory, and Generational Storytelling.
Hanoi Ca Phe is spotlighting the women who preserve culture through food, memory, and care. This year’s celebration centers on founder Gina and two deeply personal dishes—Goi Cuon and Bo Kho—each rooted in lessons passed down from her grandmother.
Gina learned to cook alongside her grandmother, absorbing recipes not from written instructions, but from observation, repetition, and shared time in the kitchen. Meals were moments of connection, where stories were exchanged as naturally as ingredients, and tradition was carried forward through practice rather than preservation on paper.
When Gina’s grandmother was later diagnosed with dementia, those kitchen memories took on new meaning. As stories began to fade, Gina felt an urgency to hold onto what remained—using food as a way to preserve her grandmother’s legacy, her teachings, and the quiet strength she embodied.
The dishes featured during Women’s History Month reflect that intention.
• Goi Cuon, fresh and carefully wrapped, represents balance, gentleness, and attention to detail—values Gina learned by watching her grandmother’s hands at work.
• Bo Kho, slow-braised and deeply comforting, reflects patience and resilience, simmered over time and meant to nourish both body and spirit.
“These dishes are a way of remembering,” Gina shares. “They carry her stories, even when she can no longer tell them herself.”
Through this offering, Hanoi Ca Phe honors not only Gina’s grandmother, but generations of women whose knowledge has been passed through food—often quietly, often without recognition, yet always with lasting impact.
Guests are invited to experience these dishes throughout Women’s History Month and take part in a celebration of heritage, memory, and the women who shape culture one meal at a time.
