This holiday season, we were reminded of the true magic of being present, serving others, and gathering in community 🎄✨ Our Gingerbread House Party was a beautiful success, filled with laughter, creativity, and connection, as parents, children, Alani staff, students, and community members came together to celebrate 🏠💛
We are deeply grateful to the KCC Culinary Department and the many volunteers who made this event possible 🙌 Mahalo to Chef Wetter and Chef Say for crafting the pastries and gingerbread houses completely from scratch 🍪🥐, Oli’s Kitchen for the delicious bentos 🍱, and our Culinary Department Chair, Grant Itomitsu, for his support and presence. A special thank you to Jessica Lum from the Lama Library for capturing these unforgettable moments 📸, and to Uncle Sam Rodrigues from Surfrider Spirit for bringing extra joy as our Santa Claus 🎅🏽🌊
Events like this remind us that the holidays are not just about what we do, but how we show up for one another ❤️ The power of service, generosity, and community is what truly makes this season bright ✨ Mahalo to everyone who gave their time, talent, and heart to make this day so special
Last week, our founder Zack toured the Culinary Institute of the Pacific with his grandma, Dr. Joyce Tsunoda — the first Asian American woman to serve as Chancellor of the UH Community Colleges.
Decades ago, she helped lay the foundation for this very program. What started as a way to teach students to cook and serve has now evolved into a launchpad for entrepreneurs, cultural leaders, and Hawaiʻi’s future culinary workforce.
Her legacy lives on through the work we do at AEP Hawaii, creating career pathways for kamaʻāina to thrive in meaningful, high paying jobs at home.
Mahalo to Aja Grande and Grant Itomitsu for the warm and heartfelt tour 🙏🏼
And mahalo always to Grandma Jo, whose impact continues to inspire everything we stand for 💛

@kccculinary at the #KCCFarmersMarket! @gitomitsu and @ltamamoto from the Culinary Institute of the Pacific, checking out what’s fresh at our Saturday market! Hope to see you all here today from 7:30-11!
The @kccculinary school had an amazing lunch created by students in their Advanced Culinary Experiences (ACE) program, inspired by their recent trip to Fukuoka. It was so uplifting to see how these culinary students got so fired up with ideas and expanded perspectives after their Japan adventure! These are hopefully the future faces of Hawaii’s culinary scene in the coming years. Mahalo to the parents, @jetrousafoodteam , and the many sponsors who help make this program possible for the students.

The curtains were lifted, giving us a preview of an emerging generation of chefs in Hawaii. Their talents were choreographed into a ten-part appreciation luncheon @kaikenarestaurant inspired by a recent culinary learning trip to Fukuoka, Japan.
These gifted students @kccculinary took part of the Advanced Culinary Experiences program, and brought back a wealth of knowledge and a renewed resolve to further elevate Hawaii’s epicurean stage.
These programs are crucial for the advancement of our future chefs and evolution of our esculent culture in the islands, making it evident why it is imperative that we support the people, companies, and institutions that help make it happen.
Mahalo to @chefgarnier , Grant Itomitsu, @808happycook , @kccculinary and the students who made this incredible event happen and congratulations for the successful finale from all of your hard work! I eagerly anticipate the sequel in your evolutions!
