Awards assembly! Thank you to all of my students for putting in the time to make our program what it is! Congratulations to all of the award recipients today at our assembly! Go Menes:)
Thank you to Alika and everyone at Corteva for supporting our program! The partnership with our school, grants us the ability to push boundaries of a high school classroom! Here are some pictures of us using Koji on grass fed hawaii beef provided by @aliks1011 and other meal items that the kids have been practicing for service! Local items that were featured today were local pork, local beef, Hawaii ono via a ceviche, Hawaiian Spirulina in our house made soba, Sumida watercress and local pumpkin in our tempura! We are very proud to support Hawaiian regional cuisine at our school and once again all of this would not be possible if it wasn’t for our partnership! @corteva mahalo!
A big mahalo to the Moanalua Culinary Class and @meneculinary for inviting @yhataco and @hrahawaii to experience firsthand how the HRA Educational Fund’s ProStart program helps students pursue their culinary aspirations 🙌 And for the ono food!
Hawaiʻi Restaurant Association Education Foundation @hra_ef proudly implements the nationally recognized ProStart curriculum across all islands in the State of Hawai'i. This two-year program introduces high school students to Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management through industry-driven, hands-on instruction. Students train with professional chefs, participate in paid internships, and graduate with college credits, a nationally recognized Certificate of Achievement, and access to scholarship opportunities.
Today I had the opportunity to learn more about KCC’s travel abroad programs and what they have been offering students. The travel abroad luncheon featured new product development by Moanalua alumni Dr. Lauren Tamamoto @ltamamoto , A multicourse meal inspired by their travels and future travels to Japan by Alan Tsuchiyama @808happycook , And an informative presentation by Grant Itomitsu @gitomitsu . Guests at the event included industry people as well as supporters of the program. A former MOHS student also presented his dishes to all of the guests today, which made the event even more special. Mahalo Denise Yamaguchi for letting me be a part of this! @denise_yamaguchi
Hawaii Agriculture Foundation at MOHS! Thank you to Denise Yamaguchi for coming and experiencing service from our culinary students. We hope you come back! @hiagfdn@denise_yamaguchi@moanalua_high_school
